Press release from the issuing company

Baltimore - Vertis Communications, a results-driven marketing communications company that delivers inventive advertising, direct marketing and interactive solutions to prominent brands across North America, announced today the addition of Ken Kaisen as chief technology officer and chief information officer (CTO/CIO).

In this newly formed dual role, Kaisen will focus on leveraging technology, the Internet and software applications to advance the company's product offerings and service platforms to meet clients' evolving multi-channel marketing needs. By maximizing investments in the latest technologies and embracing new business practices, Kaisen will support Vertis' mission to develop and enhance its distinctive suite of workflow-enabling tools, integrated web-based solutions and commitment to operational excellence - which ultimately helps clients improve their speed-to-market across multi-channels, achieving optimum ROI.

"Ken has a rich background in information technology and software development with the experience necessary to lead both the technology and information systems efforts of our company," said Gerald Sokol Jr., interim president and chief executive officer for Vertis Communications. "Ken will focus on accelerating the development of our technology infrastructure, workflow management tools and digital solutions that power our clients to develop innovative and cost effective multi-channel marketing solutions with the goal of further aligning our clients' marketing with their customers' media preferences and enabling them to capitalize on the proven success of new media."

Most recently, Kaisen served as president and CEO at ClearMomentum, a company that delivers sophisticated financial analytics and business performance management in a Software-as-a-Service model. Prior to this role, Kaisen was the vice president and general manager of Consulting and Systems Integration for Avaya Corporation, a $450 million worldwide business. In addition, he held numerous technology and general management positions over the course of a 20-year career at Xerox Corporation, and was the CIO for New England Business Services.

Kaisen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and has completed executive management training programs at Harvard, MIT, and Columbia University. Kaisen has served on several corporate boards and technical advisory committees for Microsoft, Xerox, the FBI, and the Technology Professional Services Association.
