CafePress announces New President to lead expanded business focus

Press release from the issuing company

San Mateo, CA - CafePress, the leading source for high quality customized products, today announced that Robert Marino has been tapped as the company's new president. As president, Marino is charged with leading the company's continued growth and overseeing the strategic direction of CafePress as it expands its reach into new business channels.

CafePress launched in 1999 as the first service dedicated to helping websites open shops featuring custom-printed merchandise. With its ground breaking print-on-demand technologies and unique no-risk business model, the company saw fast-paced growth as over a million independent website owners flocked to CafePress to open online shops in its first years of business. Shopkeepers quickly created an astounding catalog of millions of merchandise designs across every topic imaginable. A unique form of self-expression through T-shirts and other gifts became apparent and CafePress brought it all together in the CafePress Marketplace in 2005.

With this significant growth at hand, CafePress founder and CEO, Fred Durham, began the search for a Vice President of Operations who could take product customization printing to a mass level -- he found the perfect match in Marino, who joined in 2005.

"It was, remarkably, Bob's vast experience in food service that made him perfect for the task of pioneering mass customization," says Fred Durham, CafePress CEO. "I needed someone who understood how to take many inconsistent ingredients and be able to quickly and consistently turn them into a quality product."

Within his first year at CafePress, Marino led a team in building a state of the art printing facility in Louisville, Kentucky, strategically located next door to the primary UPS shipping hub, capable of fulfilling in excess of 50,000 orders a day, year round. Under Marino's gaze CafePress has led the way in one-off custom product printing by innovating new printing technologies. In 2005 CafePress was first to market when it launched direct to garment digital printing on dark garments; and since then it has innovated dozens of additional printing methods enabling custom printing on products like SIGG water bottles, Flip Camcorders, yoga mats and more.

Since 2005, under the leadership of Marino, CafePress has also grown a new business-to-business division alongside its well-known online retail site CafePress.com. New printing capabilities in product personalization has led to large-scale custom printing partnerships with influential brands such as Cisco, TomTom, Sigg, Thermos and Gaiam. CafePress has also been entrusted with customized product production for brands such as American Idol, the Twilight Saga movie franchise and ABC television. And, CafePress' reputation for its high quality, no minimum order size, and rapid turn-around printing has made it an invaluable resource to business partners.

"Our continued growth and position as an industry leader over the last couple years would not have been possible without Bob," says Durham. "Today CafePress powers customization wherever customization wants to happen and that is largely due to the strategic vision and innovative capabilities Bob has developed."

Today CafePress is the leading source of customization for consumers and business partners alike.
