T/R Systems Announces MicroPress X Series Connectivity to Canon CLC 1180/1140/1110

Press release from the issuing company

ATLANTA & LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y.--Sept. 29, 2003-- T/R SYSTEMS, INC., a leader in developing innovative solutions for the management and production of digital documents, and Canon U.S.A., a subsidiary of Canon, Inc., a leader in networked imaging systems, announced today the availability of T/R Systems' MicroPress X Series document production servers for use with the mid-volume Canon CLC 1180/1140/1110 series graphics printing systems. T/R Systems' innovative MicroPress X Series is at the core of this print-on-demand (POD) solution. The MicroPress is a document production server for POD customers that bridges the gap between low-volume workgroup printing and high-volume centralized printing. By combining powerful document "make-ready" capabilities, sophisticated color management, advanced job management and workflow tools and unique print device connectivity options, the MicroPress X Series provides customers with a scalable production printing system. The MicroPress X Series includes the MicroPress SX, DX and MX models, each of which addresses a different segment of the POD market from low-to-high volume. MicroPress X Series now connects to the Canon CLC 1110, 1140 and 1180 graphics printing systems. Each device produces images with a resolution of 800 x 400 dpi. The 1110 outputs 8.5 color pages per minute (ppm) and 42 b & w ppm, and the 1140 and 1180 print 11 color ppm and 42 b & w ppm. Ideal for creative services, marketing departments and advertising agencies, each device accommodates a wide range of paper stocks, huge paper capacities and utilizes Canon's Finer, Brighter (FB) Toner and Advanced Mapping technology. "This marks a tremendous achievement for T/R Systems," said Mike Kohlsdorf, President and CEO of T/R Systems. "We are very excited about matching the MicroPress' stellar color management capabilities with a superb line of color devices." "The collaborative efforts between Canon and T/R Systems have once again provided the graphic arts industry with a new and cutting edge printing solution," said Tod Pike, senior vice president and general manager of marketing, Imaging Systems Group for Canon U.S.A. "The MicroPress offers our customers the very best in flexibility and color management as well as significant advances in workflow management tools." The CLC1180/1140/1110 Connectivity Kit for the MicroPress X Series will be available during the fourth quarter of 2003 through authorized Canon U.S.A. dealers and subsidiaries. Pricing will be based on model and options selected. For a demonstration of this new connectivity, visit the Canon booth (#3451) at Graph Expo, September 28-October 1, 2003 at McCormick Place in Chicago. Canon will be showing the MicroPress X Series connected to the CLC 1180.
