EFI Announces Velocity Balance 3.0 at Graph Expo

Press release from the issuing company

CHICAGO--Sept. 28, 2003-- Electronics For Imaging, the world leader in imaging solutions for network printing, today announced a new version of Velocity Balance(TM), the cornerstone of its distributed printing solution for digital color and B&W production environments. Velocity Balance 3.0 provides centralized management of up to 16 print devices with efficient job ticketing and composition of complex documents. The new software can be seen in EFI's booth (#5027/5030) at the Graph Expo show in Chicago this week. "Print shops will achieve greater efficiency and productivity with the increased control and automatic job processing capabilities of Velocity Balance 3.0," said Ghilad Dziesietnik, VP of Advanced Workflow and Core Software Technology at EFI. "Velocity's open architecture allows seamless integration into existing print environments and the flexibility to add functionality as printing needs expand. We are pleased to further expand our interoperable line of Velocity workflow solutions with this powerful new component for enhanced digital production printing." Velocity Balance 3.0 offers greater flexibility with scalable software modules to fit the specific production needs of In-plants, Print-for-Pay shops, book publishers, advertising agencies and more. New tools for automatic job processing and unified job ticketing provide centralized management and distribution of jobs across multiple printers. Velocity Balance 3.0 also integrates seamlessly with Xerox DigiPath software, accepting and processing job tickets for output to any printer. The new PDF-based Velocity Compose(TM) feature boosts productivity by providing thumbnail-based creation, previewing and editing of complex documents. Lengthy jobs that contain inserts, tabs, and merged files from digital sources or scanned hard copies can be assembled and verified quickly through the WYSIWYG interface before they get printed, saving production time by avoiding costly errors. In addition, Velocity Balance 3.0, driven by the latest Command WorkStation(TM) print management software, now offers universal connectivity to any PostScript Level 3 capable device. Also, a new load-balancing option enables users to designate a specific device in a group to print a job. Velocity Balance maximizes print production capacity by managing multiple devices as a group. The software automatically balances large jobs across print devices, splitting color and monotone pages and intelligently routing jobs to the most efficient printers in the group. With Velocity Balance, each engine is utilized to its full capabilities for increased throughput and faster job turnaround. Availability Velocity Balance 3.0 will be available in Q4 2003.
