KPG Offers Velocity OneFlow Software From EFI for DirectPress 5034 DI System

Press release from the issuing company

CHICAGO--Sept. 28, 2003-- Kodak Polychrome Graphics (KPG) is making it even easier to enter the digital printing world. Beginning at Graph Expo 2003, KPG will sell Velocity OneFlow prepress software from Electronics for Imaging in the United States and Canada as the color front end for the new Kodak Polychrome Graphics DirectPress 5034 DI System. "Customers want complete solutions as they make the transition to digital technologies," said John Schloff, Staff Vice President, Digital Printing, KPG. "With the KPG DirectPress 5034 DI system and Velocity OneFlow, small- to medium-sized commercial printers and digital service bureaus can move short-run, quick-turnaround color jobs through the print process with confidence." The KPG DirectPress 5034 DI system combines the quality advantages of offset printing with the workflow and automation benefits of digital printing. This combination presents a new growth opportunity for printers that want to tap into the growing demand for high-quality, quick-turnaround, short-run, four-color work. Velocity OneFlow automates labor-intensive steps to streamline digital and offset printing and proofing. It features an intuitive, icon-based interface that allows users to click and drag prepress functions to design their own customized workflow. It automatically converts a wide range of files to PDF, including Microsoft Word and Publisher files, and integrates powerful tools for preflighting, trapping, imposition, RIPing, soft proofing and more. Velocity OneFlow also offers true "RIP Once Output Many" (ROOM) architecture to ensure consistent color results in final press runs. "OneFlow's integrated RIP and workflow attributes offer great value to our customers, by simplifying and streamlining the overall printing process, which means more jobs per day and greater profitability," Schloff added. "The combination of KPG's DirectPress technology and Velocity OneFlow delivers the efficiency and competitive advantages of digital technology at an affordable price. We are delighted to partner with KPG to help streamline operations for their DirectPress customers with complete management of multiple output engines from one desktop," said Fred Rosenzweig, EFI President and COO. A demonstration of the combined solution can be seen in KPG's booth (#4030) at Graph Expo 2003 in Chicago, September 28-October 1.
