Press release from the issuing company

CHICAGO--Sept. 28, 2003--Electronics For Imaging, the world leader in imaging solutions for network printing, is debuting new releases of its best-selling Best Colorproof(TM), Screenproof(TM) and Designer Edition(TM) color management solutions for the PC and the Macintosh market. The new software releases feature a completely redesigned, intuitive interface, the integrated Adobe PostScript engine (Adobe CPSI), offer support for PDF/X and have selectable RIP resolutions to accelerate the printing process. Best Colorproof version 5.0 and Best Screenproof version 5.0 include the Best LinTool utility for linearization and relinearization of output devices. This powerful linearization feature interfaces with spectrometers from leading manufacturers and boasts a new user-friendly interface. Additionally, these updated proofing tools enable users to define customized color gradations, select special dot colors and allow for composite color printing of unique colors. Support of native one-bit data formats has been added to Best Screenproof along with the PageBuffer format from Harlequin, the Len format from Esko Graphics, the Founder format from Founder and the PCX format. EFI's Best Designer Edition version 3.0 is a newly developed, Mac OS X based solution that incorporates the Adobe PostScript engine (Adobe CPSI), an Aqua-based graphic user interface, file support for PDF/X files and Best Color Editor for spot colors. An array of sophisticated features enables small companies in the graphic arts market to produce high quality, continuous-tone color proofs easily and economically. The integration of Adobe PostScript 3(TM) with these Best proofing products has added an over-printing function enabling support for In-RIP separation of composite workflows and 2-byte fonts. The integration allows EFI to quickly incorporate new developments by PostScript inventor Adobe and integrate new changes into its Best proofing products. Three selectable RIP resolutions have also been added to all three software packages which accelerate the RIP processes while maintaining consistent output resolution of the printing device. Best ColorProof, Best ScreenProof and Best Designer Edition are compatible with over 50 printers including models from Agfa, Canon, Encad, Epson, Hewlett Packard, OKI and Roland. Printer support for PictroProof from Fujifilm is available as an option for Best Colorproof and Best Screenproof.
