Tianjin Evening News Group, which produces five daily newspapers including its 910,000 circulation flagship title, Tianjin Today Evening News, has ordered a new 4x1 Goss Newsliner press to enhance capacity and flexibility while achieving cost and productivity advantages. The new press line will allow production of two separate publications through one folder and maximize savings on consumables.
 
Comprising eight units, the new double-width, single circumference Newsliner press will be configured as two four-over-four towers, with one folder, two Goss CT50 reelstands and a complete mailroom system. Rated at 80,000 copies per hour with a web width of up to 1562 mm, the press has been specified with a Goss 2:3:3 jaw folder featuring double independent folding couples and an upper former. This will enable Tianjin Evening News Group to run two different products simultaneously, optimizing press running time and ensuring full press utilization.
 
Tianjin Evening News Group has been a long-term Goss newspaper press user, and currently operates four 2x2 (single wide, double circumference) Goss Universal press models and three 2x1 Universal presses. With dramatic plate savings and a variety of operational cost-saving advantages, the 4x1 cylinder format was an essential requirement for Tianjin Evening News Group.

Other advanced features include a specially modified 'triple raceway' bearing system for greater precision and easier operation, optional Goss DigiRail digital inking, and an enhanced fully-automated splicing system.

The new 4x1 Goss Newsliner press for Tianjin Evening News Group is scheduled for installation in July 2011.
