Perfect color at the Color Management Conference

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - The Color Management Conference, taking place December 5--7, in Phoenix, Arizona, will help printers of all experience levels understand the intricacies of color management. The conference is packed with a variety of programs that put an emphasis on new techniques and technologies that will help printers develop a new appreciation for the craft.

The conference offers six different types of sessions:
Core Competency--These sessions are for attendees in need of a refresher in color management or who are beginners in the field. This track consists of Color Management and Proofing for Spot Colors, Process Control and Hands-On Instrumentations, and much more.

Packaging--These sessions, put together with support from the Flexographic Technical Association, are for attendees who have a focus on packaging or brand management color issues. The Journey to Soft Proofing and Opacity and Color: What Comes FIRST? are a few of the sessions that fill out this track.

Pre-Production--These sessions are for prepress professionals, pre-media, and designers. This track consists of sessions like Educating Your Staff and Selling Color to Your Clients and What Are Realistic Color Expectations?

Digital Process--Print professionals who have digital color equipment and want answers can look forward to sessions such as First Things FIRST and Optimizing Digital Front End.

Offset--These sessions are sheetfed in nature with hybrid print shop content. Printers on this track can look forward to sessions like State-of-the-Art Technologies and Market Acceptance and Color Management Contributes to Sustainability: Does It Matter?

Computer Lab Sessions--Attendees can take advantage of the on-site computer lab and learn color management techniques from some of the best instructors in the industry. Color Verification, Effective Color Management Utilizing Preflighting, and How to Build a Color-Managed Document are just a few examples of what will be showcased in the computer lab.

For questions or concerns that may not be addressed in one of the many sessions, attendees can visit the Color Whiz Bar. This is the place to come for technical questions, advice, insight, or just friendly conversation about color management technology. Attendees are welcome to walk up and join in a conversation where our team of experts will be there to troubleshoot and talk. The bar will be stocked with gurus of all kinds. No appointments needed and the bar will be open during both the welcome reception on Sunday and the vendor reception on Monday.

The Color Management Conference also offers two pre-conference sessions for those looking to dive even deeper into color management. Becoming Your Company's Color Management Champion and an offsite Phoenix photography shoot. Becoming Your Company's Color Management Champion will help printers take their company's color management techniques to the next level. Comprised of six sessions, printers will walk away with the assets to explain and influence resource allocations of funds, staffing, and technology in their company.

Two of the speakers who will be keynoting the Color Management Conference this year are Frank Windgassen and Scott Geffert. On December 5, Frank Windgassen, of E&J Gallo Winery, will tell the story of how they manage color effectively through their workflow, train their employees, and their use of color management processes. Scott Geffert, of the Center for Digital Imaging, Inc, is keynoting the following day. Scott will be highlighting the recent advances in international imaging standards and the potential for standards and process control to improve productivity and quality.
