Brussels, Belgium – International Paper, the world's largest paper and packaging company, has produced the first issue of The Environmental Post, the company's very own "Green Newspaper" which contains in-depth the latest news and features on its environmental achievements as a global paper producer. The Environmental Post not only provides data and information on International Paper's achievements but also carries information and news about what is happening in the paper industry with particular emphasis on the environment.

The Environmental Post contains information on International Paper's three European paper mills, all of which are integrated and as a result much more environmentally conscious with regards to their operational activities. The Environmental Post details why this is so, from the group's close partnerships with forest owners through to the use of green energy such as carbon neutral biomass.

The use of optimized transportation is also highlighted, explaining how through the use of optimal partnerships with forest owners, International Paper's European integrated mills source their wood supply from local forests, which helps lead to shorter transport distances, less fuel consumption and less CO2 being used.

The Environmental Post also reports on International Paper's new DVD, entitled, "Discover our Environmental Commitment," which through the use of entertaining video and animation, provides an overview of International Paper's sustainability commitments and activities. The DVD also explains the European Paper Industry's Paper Profile initiative, which provides uniform product declarations to guide and assist paper buyers and specifiers in their product selection. Highlights of International Paper's mills in France, Poland, Russia and Brazil are also included, which focus on a wide range of environmental and social investments and programmes in those respective countries.

The achievement of International Paper's Adagio paper product range being awarded the EU Eco-label is also featured, which along with its PEFC certification made Adagio the first range of tinted papers range in Europe to offer the maximum environmental credential to the end-user. The Adagio range is produced at International Paper's Saillat mill, one of the world's best performing production facilities in terms of CO2 emissions.

The "Little Green Book" is also featured. Produced by International Paper, it provides useful information and highlights some of the key facts about how sustainable the paper industry really is. The book examines some of the most commonly held myths surrounding the paper industry in relation to sustainability and aims to put the record straight.
