"Our panelists were all experienced technical operations executives in G7 certified plants," said Cary Sherburne, Senior Editor and Director of Services for WhatTheyThink, who will be moderating the session. "They shared their thoughts about how and why a printing operation should consider switching to newer technology plates and expressed their views about what should be the next big thing in the digital plate market in a lively and very interactive discussion. We appreciate their taking the time to speak frankly about their experiences."

Sherburne was joined by:

  • Ajay Lamb. As the Vice President of Technology for the past 15 years at American Printing Company in Madison, Wisconsin, Ajay is not only responsible for the company as an executive, but is also in charge of research, production efficiencies, and technology in printing as well as best practices. As an industry expert, applies the latest trends in printing technology to American Printing, and also advises on industry boards and councils, as well as several educational boards including Herzing College and Madison Area Technical College (MATC). Ajay is a graduate of Purdue University and has a BS in Electrical Engineering Technology. In his free time Ajay enjoys golf, skiing, and having fun with his four-year old twins.
  • Ed Zepernick. Ed Zepernick began his career as a commercial photographer in New York working in the advertising/catalog sector. He moved into the printing industry over 30 years ago when an opportunity arose to work in publishing. After a decade of color experience in fast edit with clients such as Time Inc. and Business Week, Ed left New York to work inside printing companies Hennegan and World Color before settling down at Continental Web. Ken and Diane Field have provided every opportunity for career growth. Managing the premedia department lead to IT, and now onto project development where CWP creates its own systems to manage its day to day data.
  • John Humrich. John is Vice President of Operations at Monroe Litho Inc, a premium quality sheetfed multicolor provider of graphic communications products and services located in Rochester, New York. As VP of Operations, John is responsible for estimating, customer service management, purchasing, pre-media, pressroom, finishing (cutting, folding, stitching, die cutting), fulfillment/distribution, and transportation. He is a graduate of the School of Printing Management Sciences in the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences at the Rochester Institute of Technology and has over 25 years of industry experience. In 2007, he was recognized by NAPL as the "Press Room Manager of the Year". He also serves as a member of the company's Executive Committee.
