EFI enhances eco and productivity features of Fiery VUE Application

Press release from the issuing company

Foster City, Calif. – EFI, a world leader in customer-focused digital printing innovation, today released enhancements to the Fiery VUE application that broaden its green printing features and provides performance and feature improvements. Launched in January of this year, and downloaded by thousands of users, Fiery VUE is an innovative print application that makes production of professional-looking finished documents fast and easy for all office workers.

Ideal for any functional group across an enterprise including sales, marketing, finance, legal, HR and training, Fiery VUE takes all the complexity out of producing professional-looking documents. Before printing, any office user can interact with the document on-screen in 3D to sculpt and then preview exactly how the finished document will look.

"With a single click, Fiery VUE allows all office workers to create eye-catching documents while improving productivity, reducing waste and lowering overall costs," said John Henze, vice president of Fiery marketing, EFI. "Since its debut, Fiery VUE has been focused on helping companies shrink their eco-footprint, and with this new version, we've added even more features to support green initiatives. Our patent-pending Green Books technology has been a huge hit with users, and we're confident the overall enhancements we've made will really make this a 'must have' application in the office."

With this release, EFI has enriched Fiery VUE's "eco" features which include Green Books and the new, built-in Green Printing Statistics. Green Books are unique booklet templates included in the application that enable users to create and design pamphlets or booklets with just a few clicks. By using Green Books, users can reduce paper usage by up to 85 percent when printing out a standard slide presentation and can recognize significant cost savings by eliminating unnecessary draft prints. And now, users can even measure their eco-savings with the new Green Printing Statistics, which allow them to track paper savings by day, week, month, and year and also shows them how many trees they have saved over time.

Company Nurse, a Scottsdale, Ariz. provider of nurse triage services for workers compensation claims, was an early adopter of the technology and is seeing the value of Fiery VUE grow. Angi Hast, project manager, said: "Company Nurse is a small, 20 person business where optimizing resources is key to our success. With Fiery VUE, we're saving $1,600 a month in costs even though we're printing more documents than ever before. We're also printing smarter and greener – with the preview function and Green Books not only are we saving time, but the environment as well."

"Fiery VUE is easy to use – it's very simple, graphic interface shows me exactly what I can expect, whether stapled, spiral bound, or laid out 9-up on a page," said Jason Bushman, owner of PostNet in Lafayette, Colo. "The application is a favorite with my staff, since it gives them better control without a steep learning curve. When they first saw it, their responses included the words 'awesome,' 'cool,' and 'wow!' They especially like the ability to show the client exactly what to expect with the click of a button."

The new Fiery VUE print driver feature expands a user's ability to print using Fiery VUE from any desktop application, making it even easier to print professional documents using Fiery VUE.  EFI has also added CRD and remote printing capabilities to the application to make it simple for users to print Fiery VUE documents to either outsource print providers or to their corporate print shops. This allows Fiery VUE users to take advantage of finishing and output capabilities that might not be available on their local print device.

How it Works
Fiery VUE is compatible with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat applications. Users can launch the software as a stand-alone application or conveniently from within Microsoft Office 2003, 2007 or 2010. The Fiery VUE desktop application has a user-friendly interface that visually guides office workers through document layout and production. It allows multiple files to be combined into a single document, where finishing options such as stapling, binding and hole punch can be selected. Besides English, Fiery VUE is localized in French, Italian, German, Spanish, Dutch, Brazilian-Portugese and Japanese.
