Press release from the issuing company

The WAN-IFRA International Newspaper Color Quality Club celebrates a premiere: the South African newspaper Naweek Beeld is the first African member of this elite group of newspaper printers. manroland AG shares the pleasure of the success gained by its longstanding partner Paarl Coldset.

Well roared, lion: it's no coincidence that a print product of Paarl Coldset in Johannesburg, the South African newspaper Naweek Beeld, has been admitted to the WAN-IFRA International Newspaper Color Quality Club 2010−2012. The paper is produced on a manroland UNISET at Paarl Coldset where quality is a matter of course. Continuous investments have brought this company an outstanding position in printing and mailroom technology and production workflows where it sets the quality standards in South Africa. Are readers or advertisers looking for higher quality than in the past? How does Conrad Rademeyer, Managing Director of Paarl Coldset, see developments? "The quality expectations for print products have definitely risen in South Africa over the past few years. With the newspapers we print, we want to offer an attractive information medium and advertising environment. This of course means a commitment to quality and the same goes for commercial products like inserts. We have shifted the quality benchmark in South Africa to a level where coldset printing is an attractive commercial option."

The daily newspaper Beeld with the weekend edition Naweek Beeld, published by Media24, follow an uncompromising business model. All activities are aimed at positioning the newspaper as a very attractive product for readers and advertisers. Besides print quality, newspaper design is regarded as outstanding throughout the country. Six Frewin Awards in the last eight years testify to this. Beeld is printed at Paarl Coldset in Johannesburg and at the other Paarl Media Group coldset printing plants in Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Bloemfontein, a total of three CROMOMAN, three UNISET and two GEOMAN printing systems are installed. The group provides the South African market with five daily papers, four Sunday papers and numerous weekly papers in different formats, including the Daily Sun which is South Africa's leading daily newspaper. Paarl Media's portfolio also includes high-quality labels and products printed by gravure and sheetfed offset.
