Pack-Smart's new CartonCheck system delivers perfect cartons every time

Press release from the issuing company

Pack-Smart Inc., in partnership with ISRA Surface Vision, has developed a new leading edge carton inspection system for the pharmaceutical, personal care and entrainment packaging industries.

Both companies will be showcasing the capabilities of CartonChek at Graph Expo in Chicago on October 3,  McCormick Place,  at Booth Number 4330.

The innovative CartonCheck systems developed by Pack-Smart and Isra Vision ensure that folded cartons processed in folding gluing equipment meet print quality requirements defined by "grand master proof", at speeds of up to 300 meters per minute.

Carton Check systems are also capable of verifying barcodes and serial numbers for product tractability purposes.  Any discrepancy from the "Grand Master Image" or master file, triggers an alarm,  subsequently rejecting any products that are not compliant and preventing them from processing any further.

Roger Mattila, Account Manager at ISRA Surface Vision, says  "The major advantage of Pack-Smart Carton Check over other comparable systems is that it is modular, which  allows for offline operation, as well as inline integration with folding gluing equipment.

Also, the Carton Checks are fitted with servo controlled feeders, high precision registration modules, vacuum transports and high speed ejection systems. The actual carton inspection is handled by state of the art High Resolution Line Scan Camera , which is capable of recognizing even minor defects generated by upstream processes or human errors."

Setup of CartonChek is handled by two methods; first by comparing to approved an "grand master", and secondly, by comparing to am "electronic master file".The software platform that governs Carton Chek provides  recipe management functionality and statistical information with detailed reporting capabilities, all designed to maximize up time and reduce cost.  Carton Check standard configurations come in maximum carton with 500mm, 750mm and 1000 mm.

"The packaging industry today faces several challenges," notes Derek Dlugosh-Ostap, CEO of Pack-Smart Inc. "Two of the most significant challenges are shrinking margins and increasing demand for higher quality. By providing a 100% integrated inspection process, in line with folding equipment our customers are able to ensure that both of these challenges are addressed.

"We also find that 100% inspection helps in reinforcing customer loyally due to reduced reject rates and simply peace of mind.   Converters in the pharmaceutical, personal care and entertainment industries, where product quality and tractability are paramount, can minimize the risk of producing substandard products while improving  customer satisfaction and providing 100% compliant goods without going through costly manual inspection."
