Kodak brings revolutionary PROSPER 5000XL digital full color press to Graph Expo

Press release from the issuing company

Rochester, N.Y. - Kodak will present a host of market-leading solutions for commercial printers, marketers, publishers, packaging professionals, data-driven printers, and photo products printers at Graph Expo. Front and center in the Kodak booth, #1227, and making its U.S. debut will be the KODAK PROSPER 5000XL Press. First shown to the world at Ipex earlier this year, the PROSPER 5000XL Press is a full-color, high-speed, high-quality continuous inkjet device capable of transforming the way publishers and marketers communicate.

Also shown at Graph Expo is a new platform in the KODAK NEXPRESS Digital Production Color Press family, an expanded services portfolio under the KODAK MARKETMOVER Services umbrella, and KODAK TRILLIAN SP Thermal Plates. These latest offerings anchor Kodak's multi-faceted lineup of products, solutions and special events at Graph Expo, where Kodak's emphasis will be on helping customers achieve success through innovation.

"More than ever, commercial printers, marketers, publishers, packaging professionals, data-driven printers, and photo products printers operate in an environment where change is the norm," said Tim Palmer, Vice President, Americas Consumer and Commercial Marketing, Kodak. "At Graph Expo, we'll demonstrate how KODAK Technologies and Solutions help customers achieve the results they need for profitability and growth, from improving efficiencies and productivity to completely transforming their businesses."

Latest KODAK Innovation
New products and solutions from Kodak at Graph Expo will include the PROSPER 5000XL Press. With the unique ability to print on glossy coated stock, the high-speed, full-color PROSPER 5000XL Press produces image quality approaching up to 175 line screen (lpi). Driven by unmatched KODAK Stream Inkjet Technology, the PROSPER 5000XL Press optimizes supply chain efficiencies for book publishers, achieves enhanced productivity at lower costs for commercial printers, and dramatically increases the effectiveness of direct mail, catalogs and inserts for marketers.  Learn how the KODAK 700 Print Manager is integral in efficiently driving the PROSPER 5000XL Press. In addition, visitors will see how interfacing with KODAK PRINERGY Workflow provides a total digital inkjet solution for printers.

The new KODAK NEXPRESS SX Digital Production Color Platform with Print Genius takes the color quality, productivity, performance, and reliability of NEXPRESS Presses to the next level for commercial, photo, in-plant and data-driven printers. The NEXPRESS SX Platform delivers longer cut sheet capability up to 26 inches, faster speed, higher line screens, and light black dry ink through the KODAK Fifth Imaging Unit. The benefits of the longer sheet include reduced waste and increased productivity, while enabling new applications such as six-page brochures, posters, dust jackets for books, and a variety of labels. Other new features include KODAK NEXPRESS Intelligent Calibration System Version 2, which enables the highest quality output possible, and new smaller particle dry inks for outstanding photo quality, better grain and greater color gamut.

The NEXPRESS SX Platform also enables commercial printers to enter the growing photo merchandise space with solutions for photo books, calendars, greeting cards, magnets and other photo products. The new solutions are designed to deliver unique effects such as raised printing and matte or gloss coating.

The KODAK PROSPER S10 Imprinting System-another product from the PROSPER Platform with process color capability-will also be shown for the first time in the U.S.

The solution delivers dynamic variable color graphics inline at full speeds with a web offset press for never-before-possible hybrid printing applications such as direct mail, catalogs and other custom publishing materials. Winner of a 2010 InterTech Technology Award, the PROSPER S10 Imprinting System with CMYK inks will be running live on presses in Adphos (#2236) and GSS (#2536) booths.

Featured Products and Solutions
Graph Expo also will mark the launch of KODAK Proofing Software version 5.0 for the KODAK MATCHPRINT Inkjet Proofing System. KODAK Proofing Software version 5.0 delivers color-accurate proofs and is available in three editions-Basic, Commercial and Packaging, each featuring unique features and benefits. The Packaging edition, for example, serves as the only software that supports both inkjet and halftone proofing.

To help commercial printers, marketers, publishers and other professionals diversify, change and grow their businesses, new KODAK MARKETMOVER Business Advantage Solutions offer a range of consulting services and business solutions. With MARKETMOVER Business Advantage Solutions, a team of Kodak consultants, operation specialists, developers and engineers analyze all aspects of a business and develop a customized solution based on each customer's specific needs. Offerings include system integration, customized web-to-print, multi-channel solution, optimization, market growth, and business development services. In addition, KODAK Unified Workflow Solutions, which simplify and automate complex production and color management processes for print service providers in digital and offset environments, will be demonstrated.

In addition to new products, the KODAK MAGNUS 800 Platesetter with KODAK Automatic Pallet Loader (APL) will be on display. The APL enables operators to load an entire pallet of plates into the unit at one time-up to 600 plates. By eliminating the need to manually handle and load the plates, the APL reduces operational costs and material waste. The MAGNUS 800 Platesetter will be shown imaging KODAK TRILLIAN SP Thermal Plates. TRILLIAN SP Plates are designed to offer commercial printers, publishers and offset package printers outstanding levels of productivity, efficiency, total-cost effectiveness and reduction in chemistry.

And finally, Kodak will also demonstrate the KODAK Picture Saver Scanning System, a rapid batch photo scanning solution used to generate revenue from the digital conversion of "printed memories"-photo prints, picture collections and keepsake documents. Commonly referred to as "shoebox scanning," the behind-the-counter solution enables businesses to use digitized images to produce premium photo products. The Picture Saver Scanning System can output to KODAK Picture CD, photo DVDs, photo archive services, premium photo production, photo book publishing, photo memorials and tributes, digital scrapbooking and online photo services, such as KODAK Gallery.

Special Activities
The K-Zone, described as a "show within a show," returns to Graph Expo at Kodak's booth. The K-Zone features industry leaders, innovative customers and Kodak experts in lively discussions that will be streamed live at www.kzonelive.com. Topics include new customers and applications for the PROSPER 5000XL Press, unique printing effects, making money with data-driven communications and many more.

Visitors to the booth will be able to explore tables dedicated to five market segments-marketing/commercial printing, publishing, packaging, data-driven print, and photo products. Each table will include samples, and will be attended by a team of experts for each segment to discuss customers' particular needs. There is also an application guide for attendees that lists the segments and outlines KODAK Solutions for those segments.

Attendees who stop by Kodak's booth will be able to test their golf skills in the Onlineskillscoach.com Mobile Performance Center. Visitors will step into a tee box, take a shot at the pin and have their swing analyzed with the help of the KODAK  PLAYSPORT Video Camera. Kodak is the official imaging partner of the PGA TOUR including cameras, printers and scanners, and is the sponsor of the season-long Kodak Challenge, celebrating golf's most beautiful and memorable holes.

KODAK Technologies will be honored at two award programs. The PROSPER S10 Imprinting System and KODAK DIGICAP NX Screening each earned a 2010 InterTech Technology Award. At the Gold Ink Awards, seven Kodak  customers will receive 24 of the 50 awards to be presented.

"We look forward to meeting with customers, talking about where they want to take their business, and demonstrating how KODAK Technology and expertise can contribute to their performance and profitability," said Palmer.
