C.P. Bourg masters multiple workflows at Graph Expo

Press release from the issuing company

New Bedford, MA - C.P. Bourg, the world's leading technology developer and supplier of document feeding, binding and finishing equipment, will use Graph Expo 2010 in Chicago October 3-6 as center stage to demonstrate how its products can be used to maximize finishing versatility, productivity and efficiency across a broad spectrum of workflow environments.

A series of demonstrations in the C.P. Bourg booth #2036 will feature Bourg finishers paired on-line with digital presses, operating standalone in off-line configurations, and operating as highly efficient near-line finishing solutions handing digitally printed output.

In addition, C.P. Bourg is partnering with Xerox to demonstrate at Graph Expo the new Xerox iGen4 EXP Web to Finish solution. C.P. Bourg products are also being featured by Xerox as part of a highly productive and economical book manufacturing system based on the Xerox Nuvera 288, CEM DocuCutt and Bourg finishers in the Xerox booth #400/600.

In the C.P. Bourg Booth (#2036)
Bourg BSF paired with POWER SQUARE 200 -- A high-speed Bourg BSF Sheet Feeder connected to a Bourg POWER SQUARE 200 booklet maker will produce booklets automatically from output produced by print engine(s) located elsewhere in the booth. The POWER SQUARE 200 combines the four processes of stitching, folding, spine forming and trimming to produce squared-back books up to 200 pages thick, making it a fast and cost effective alternative to perfect binding or tape binding. The Bourg BSF is equipped with the new Bourg Box to maximize production efficiency.

Bourg DS3500 directs workflows on and off-line -- In a demonstration of workflow versatility and efficiency, a Xerox Nuvera 288 EA Production System will be shown operating on-line with a C.P. Bourg-manufactured FTMS and DS3500 rotating stacker and Bourg POWER SQUARE 200 finisher. The DS3500, which enables diverting Nuvera 288 output for near-line production, will be used to transport some of the Nuvera 288 output to a Bourg BSF for near-line production of square-edged books on the Bourg POWER SQUARE 200.

Near-line finishing efficiency -- This demonstration of near-line finishing efficiency will feature the full complement of C.P. Bourg's large-format lineup for high-speed booklet making on demand. A Bourg BSF Sheet Feeder equipped with the company's new barcode integrity option will accept printed output from multiple processes and send the sheets through a Bourg BCM Bleed Crease Module to an award-winning Bourg BME Booklet Maker. This high-speed production line can accept printed sheets up to 14.33" x 22.5" to produce jobs from CD booklets to poster-sized calendars on demand, in quantities of one or thousands.

Maximizing legacy print off-line -- To demonstrate off-line finishing of large-format legacy print output, C.P. Bourg is showing its new large-format e-series Bourg BST-e Suction Tower Collator feeding output to an award-winning Bourg BME Booklet Maker. The BST-e accepts non-collated output up to 14.33" x 23.5" from analog or digital print processes to produce finished documents from CD booklets to poster-sized calendars and booklets of up to 120 pages.

In Xerox Booth #400/600
Web to Finish workflow with the new Xerox iGen4 EXP -- C.P. Bourg was selected to participate with Xerox in the unveiling of the new Xerox iGen4 EXP automated "Web to Finish" solution that makes touchless workflow achievable from order to finished product with no manual setup or intervention. The demonstration features the American debuts of C.P. Bourg's large-format BCMx Bleed Crease Module and BMEx Booklet Maker. The tight integration of the C.P. Bourg finishing modules with the new Xerox iGen4Â EXP press and their automated operation is enabled by the new Bourg Box, also being unveiled at Graph Expo 2010.

Super-productive book production -- Xerox will showcase C.P. Bourg finishers demonstrating highly productive in-line monochrome book publishing. In this demonstration, 12.5 x 18.5-inch sheets printed 4-up on a Xerox Nuvera 288 Perfecting Production System are cut in half by a CEM DocuCutt. The resulting sheets are then perforated, rotated and folded into 6.25 x 9.25-inch signatures by a Bourg BPRFx Perforating Rotating Folder and fed to a Bourg Book Factory which then delivers a fully trimmed 6 x 9-inch perfect bound book. C.P. Bourg now distributes and services the CEM DocuCutt for Xerox.

An award-winning supplier and Xerox Business Innovation Partner since 1989, C.P. Bourg in May 2010 was named the Xerox Overall Finishing Business Innovation Partner of the Year for the sixth consecutive year, and as the Xerox iGen Finishing Business Partner of the Year.
