Printing Industries of America's new wide-format inkjet test form

Press release from the issuing company

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - Printing Industries of America is proud to announce its new 20×40-in. Wide-Format Inkjet Test Form--their first test form designed exclusively for evaluating inkjet equipment. The test form is comprised of eighteen test elements, all developed specifically to help printers gauge the performance of wide-format inkjet devices.

Companies can use the form to generate color management profiles to improve a device's color output. Ken Rizzo, Director of Technical and Lean Services, at Printing Industries of America, said "Many people just assume that inkjet performance is optimized right out of the box. Not so--this form will help ensure that companies are getting the best color fidelity possible."

The new form will also help printers compare the print capabilities of various wide-format inkjet equipment so that the work can be directed to the right device. In addition, users will be able to more easily spot and correct problems that might otherwise create waste and customer complaints.

A unique feature of the form is the Open Designation Region. Two 8.5×12.5-in. areas are left open so the user can add their own choice of color management images, ink and substrate targets, artwork, and client-specific images. Several free images and targets are included with the form for that purpose, including the IT8/74 target, ECI 2002 target, Printing Industries of America Photo Montage, and the Color Conversion Swatch Target.

"The era of inkjet has begun in the commercial printing industry," said Dr. Mark Bohan, who leads Printing Industries of America's Center for Technology and Research. "We're committed to developing products and services to help firms use inkjet technology in a productive and profitable way."

The inkjet test form will be featured at the Printing Industries of America booth (#3661) at GRAPH EXPO 2010 and officially goes on sale October 11.
