FineEye Color Solutions sets sights on new capabilities for print at Graph Expo

Press release from the issuing company

Grand Rapids, MI –  FineEye Color Solutions has achieved a number of things in a short period of time.  A year ago the pioneer in new color separation technology completed merger arrangements, with the resulting venture occupying Chromaticity’s corporate headquarters in Grand Rapids.  Now as Graph Expo is set to open its doors this Sunday for a 4-day run at Chicago’s McCormick Place, FineEye (booth #124) is prepared to show printers how their high quality ink optimization software products can help fight market suppression and print better.

FineEye will use the Graph Expo stage to introduce two new products to the market.

They have expanded on their Intelligent Color Engine (ICE) with the debut of ICEserver Version 3.0 with XG (expanded gamut), a next generation software product that produces the highest quality color output.  The company also was named the exclusive worldwide distributor for the Voglesong COLORef® Color CRM, a Certified Reference Material tool that verifies the performance of color measurement equipment used throughout the print production process.

Company officials say these products are just the beginning of a comprehensive line-up of color technologies to be offered by FineEye.

“Investment in ongoing technology development is a commitment we have made to our customers,” said Peder Nelson, President of FineEye Color Solutions.  “We realize that in order to grow, we must always be looking to the future.  That’s why we have assembled a world-class research and development team, including Dr. William R. Cook, an influential figure in the world of computer programming.”

The former chief technology officer and co-founder of Allegis Corp., Cook now serves as an Associate Professor in the department of computer sciences at the University of Texas at Austin.  He is credited as the chief architect for several award-winning products, including the AppleScript language for Apple Computers.

“Dr. Cook is a recognized authority and expert in programming language, which helped us define the functionality of our new ICEserver Version 3.0,” Nelson said.  “We are excited about the future, and William will be instrumental in keeping us on the cutting edge of software development.”

As a result, customers will experience new workflow benefits that will offer ICEserver 3.0 users more flexibility and greater automated control over their color files. This version was completely updated to a server solution offering a web client interface, eliminating the need to install client software on individual work stations.

“Redesigning the architecture for ICEserver Version 3.0 was a key element to clearing the way for a more powerful solution,” said Mike DiCosola, FineEye’s Chief Technology Officer.  “The new server architecture was built to easily communicate with other workflow tools on many levels.  We implemented XML as the global communication language from inter-process commands to external reporting, all in an effort to integrate more seamlessly into our customers’ workflows.  We also felt a browser-based interface was critical to meeting the needs of today’s pre-press professionals who want easier ways to monitor automated processes.”

Nelson said Graph Expo booth visitors can see for themselves how ICEserver press-ready CMYK PDF files on average result in a 25% reduction in CMYK ink consumption.

ICEserver Version 3.0, priced at $ 9,990, delivers an exceptional ROI and rapid payback. The introductory price of the COLORef® is $300.
