MCS expands Eagle Inkjet System to include UV-Curable inks

Press release from the issuing company

MCS Booth 6515 -- Label Expo 2010, Rosemont, IL -- MCS, Inc., the leader in industrial and mailing inkjet and camera systems, has unveiled its latest addition to the MCS Eagle Inkjet family.  The new 4.25" UV Curable Print System has similar capabilities to the original Eagle 4.25" system – plus the ability to handle UV-Curable inks.  The features of the new UV-Curable Eagle include:
- 4.25" print width – scalable up to 17" with 4 heads.
- 600 DPI native resolution.
- Variable resolutions from 200x600, 300x600, 400x600 and 600x600DPI
- UV-Curable ink – expanding substrate compatibility to synthetic stocks such as BOPP, PET, polyester, etc – as well as gloss-coated paper stocks.
- 325 feet per minute speeds at 300x600 dpi.  250 fpm at 400x600 DPI.
- 2"x8" footprint.  Small enough to fit several heads in existing environments such as flexographic presses and bindery operations.

These features are suited to applications that demand high quality, wide print area and high speeds:
- Barcodes and Numbering
- Tags and labels and forms on flexographic or offset presses.
- 2D Codes such as HarvestMarkTM and Data matrix codes for product traceability.
- Product Versioning
- Varying monochrome text or graphics for product labels requiring multiple short-run version elements.
- Catalogs: Personalized versions of catalogs requiring high quality and large graphics
- Direct Mail – For personalizing and addressing on difficult-to-print substrates.
- Add large graphics, maps – to increase response rates.

Previous technology has been physically cumbersome, expensive, or required mechanical "stitching" of multiple print heads in order to achieve large print widths.  Now, the MCS Eagle UV-Curable System and the Eagle System with water-based inks are the latest generation of inkjet printers to allow these features in an affordable modular fashion to add to existing flexographic platforms.  There is not a need to buy a dedicated inkjet system and transport.  Also, with MCS Modular Designed Engineering it is possible to link up to four Eagle print modules together –  either at time of purchase – or later when extra print width or spot colors are needed.

MCS President and CEO, David Loos, commented on the addition of UV-Curable technology to the Eagle product line:  "Many of our customers have asked for high-speed, wide inkjet technology to be added to their existing flexo presses – so they don't have to buy an independent standalone press."  Mr. Loos continued: "Using two or three Eagle 4.25" print heads on an existing flexo press launches them into the barcoding, numbering and versioning industry at a fraction of the price of a fully digital press.  The payback is much quicker."
