Collins College wins the 2010 PGSF College Poster Design Competition

Press release from the issuing company

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - Collins College, Graphic Design Department, Tempe, Arizona has won the 2010 Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation (PGSF) College Poster design competition. The poster, titled "Creativity Makes Your Kolors" will be sent to all colleges and high schools in the United States that have printing and graphic communication programs for the 2010-2011 academic year. The poster promotes the availability of scholarships to pursue a career in the graphic communication industry. The posters will be available at the PGSF Booth in Education Main Street during GRAPH EXPO in Chicago, October 3 through October 6.

The poster design competition was entered by individual students and many classes that used the poster project as a working assignment. "Dreams cannot be fulfilled without an educational system that offers a challenging learning environment." according to Jo Ann Rolfe, Senior Instructor, Graphic Design. "As educators we should constantly be looking at our relative industries for updates in curriculum content, advisory board participation, field trips and internship opportunities. Industry represents the 'real world' our graduates look forward to joining."

"It was really exciting to review the creative poster designs from so many schools," states Ted Ringman, Vice President of Development at PGSF. "Monica Vaughn, Professor Rolfe's winning student, did an outstanding job designing a piece that reaches out to other students."

Two hundred college students attending 80 schools receive financial assistance through PGSF. However, many more of the deserving scholarship applicants are turned down due to lack of funds.
