GMG ColorProof with Epson 7600-10600 receives SWOP Certification

Press release from the issuing company

Tuebingen, Germany (September 16, 2003) – GMG, a leading developer and marketer of high-end professional color management solutions, announces today that it has been granted SWOP (Specifications for Web Offset Publications) certification for its digital proofing solution ColorProof driving Epson's inkjet printer StylusPro 7600, 9600 and 10600 models. In order to obtain certification, a company must submit extensive documentation of the proofing system configuration along with meaningful proofs. These are measured and visually compared with the SWOP reference print by the Technical Committee. This certification signifies that submitted proofs agreed with independent measurements on those proofs, and that a SWOP panel of at least three printing color experts approved the proofs as matching the SWOP Certified Press proof sufficiently to be used in the production of publications. The so-called Application Data Sheet (ADS) submitted by GMG will soon be available on the SWOP and GMG websites. The ADS contains detailed information and guidelines how to produce SWOP compliant digital proofs using GMG ColorProof with the Epson StylusPro printers. To assure repeatability, GMG used its own, branded GMG high-quality paper, which must pass one of the most stringent quality tests in the industry. The superiority of GMG's ColorProof solution has been proven in numerous proofing contests, irrespective of the printing device used. "Certification by the SWOP Technical Committee of the GMG ColorProof system software together with the popular Epson x600 series printers was an important step for us, especially in the light of our increased US activities. SWOP is one of the industry's forerunners overseeing standardization, helping those in the graphic arts supply chain to achieve consistency and maintain quality. In the near future, GMG is planning to apply for SWOP certification for other printing devices as well", says Robert Weihing, GMG's CEO.
