Label specialist Smyth Companies chooses eight-color Mitsubishi press

Lincolshire, Ill. — MLP U.S.A, Inc. has announced that Minneapolis, Minn.-based Smyth Companies has purchased a Diamond 3000LS sheetfed press. The eight-color, 40-inch press is slated for production at Smyth Companies’ label and commercial printing plant in Austin, Minn.

A major manufacturer of labels and label application equipment, family-owned Smyth Companies has been in business since 1877. The printer operates sheetfed, flexographic and rotary screen presses, along with digital printing systems. Modern manufacturing facilities in Minnesota, Virginia and Colorado produce label and package promotion solutions for consumer packaged goods in a variety of markets. Smyth Austin concentrates on glue-applied paper and film labels, commercial printing and fulfillment.

Smyth Companies’ cut-and-stack labels are applied to cans, jars and bottles, while its pressure-sensitive labels are found on squeezable containers for such products as liquid dish soap. In addition, Smyth Companies develops and markets labeling equipment.
