Standard Register Unveils Digital Paper Solution for Drug Sample Tracking

Press release from the issuing company

DAYTON, Ohio--Sept. 12, 2003-- Standard Register, a leading provider of information solutions, is unveiling a revolutionary digitized program for drug sample tracking at the Pharmaceutical Drug Marketing Act (PDMA) Sharing Conference September 14 - 17 in Salt Lake City. Standard Register's Digital Information Solution is a suite of digital products and services that will help companies comply with PDMA requirements while increasing efficiency and reducing costs. Standard Register's Digital Information Solution is a suite of intelligent, integrated solutions including an innovative digital pen and paper technology. The digital pen and paper captures information on the drug sample receipt as it is written, converts handwriting to digital data and can automatically send the information into customer relationship management (CRM), inventory management and other systems. This new technology also can authenticate the physician's signature and create a fully indexed image of the document, which can be retained in a digital repository for subsequent retrieval and usage. "We are combining the flexibility and simplicity of paper with the power of digital technology to help companies reduce the cost and time associated with data entry, mailing, scanning and indexing. It's a user-friendly solution to streamline tracking and information flow without changing the way pharmaceutical representatives interact with physicians. This will be a tremendous boon at a time when the industry is faced with many documentation intensive regulatory requirements," said Doug Patterson, Standard Register's vice president for digital solutions. Standard Register has integrated a number of technologies from leading providers including Anoto AB, a Swedish company, to develop this revolutionary solution. "Anoto provides core functionality to Standard Register's digital paper solutions that enables our clients to naturally migrate from paper-based to digital processes," said Patterson. Pietro Parravicini, president, Anoto North America, said, "Standard Register is one of our leading partners. The powerful and innovative way they are applying our technology delivers true value to their customers." Standard Register has commenced the pilot process of the Digital Information Solution and anticipates it will be commercially available in the pharmaceutical market in the fourth quarter. Standard Register's Pharmaceutical Group as well as channel partners will be selling the solution. "Our Digital Information Solution is one more way Standard Register can serve as a strategic partner in companies' digitization efforts," said Dennis Rediker, Standard Register president and chief executive officer. "We are focused on helping companies increase efficiency, reduce costs, enhance security and strengthen customer loyalty by delivering products and services that effectively capture, manage and use information--whether in paper or digital form. We are leveraging our deep industry expertise, advanced technology and Six Sigma methodologies in delivering these solutions."
