Heidelberg - Linoprint offers the ideal combination of printing systems and inks for cost-effective, high-quality printing of folding cartons, labels and other substrates. Printing can be carried out with varying data from a batch size of 1 upwards. At Stand 7-159 in Hall 7 of FachPack in Nuremberg (September 28 to 30, 2010), Linoprint will be showcasing drop-on-demand inkjet solutions whose specific combinations of ink, print head and peripherals make them perfect for special applications in sectors such as the pharmaceutical industry. The DriveLine and FixedLine ranges will be represented by series products and prototypes. The exhibits on show will include solutions for printing on aluminum blister packs, labels and foils/films. At FachPack 2010, Linoprint products will also be displayed at the stands of labeling machine manufacturer BBK and special printing unit manufacturer Open Date. The two companies will be presenting drop-on-demand digital technology from Linoprint as an integral part of their own products, or in unmodified form as a complement to their own portfolios.

DriveLine B: High-quality printing for aluminum blister packs
At the trade show, Linoprint will showcase DriveLine B, a solution for four-color printing on aluminum foils during the production of blister packaging. With inks approved for a wide range of food and pharmaceutical packaging, and what is currently a unique combination of ink and drop-on-demand inkjet printing, DriveLine B is the perfect solution for the pharmaceuticals market. The machine due to be displayed at the show can print substrates in widths of 28 to 150 millimeters in resolutions of up to 360 dpi. The maximum substrate width for DriveLine B is 350 millimeters. When used with just one color, the machine can print up to eight gray levels. This is a key factor when printing very small text or reproducing logos.

By steering the aluminum foil over a cooled cylinder, DriveLine B achieves a precise web transport, even with very thin, narrow or elastic substrates. In addition, the machine seamlessly resumes printing after printing errors or other interruptions to a job, incurring no material losses. Jobs can also be changed flexibly: two reels for winding and two for unwinding are optionally available in various sizes, ensuring that the optimum size of substrate reel can be selected for each job. In addition to aluminum foil for blister packs, DriveLine B can also be used to print substrates such as labels and films.

DriveLine F – the integration machine for pharmaceutical applications
Also on show will be the prototype of a Linoprint DriveLine F installation with UV LED dryer, integrated into a blister packaging machine from manufacturer Farmar. The Linoprint printing unit is integrated into the machine as a compact all-in-one attachment. To print the aluminum for the blisters, the aluminum foil is simply fed out of the blister packaging machine, printed at a speed of up to 25 meters per minute and then fed back in. Web widths of 140 to 210 millimeters can be printed in this way. DriveLine F can be used with continuous and intermittent sealing processes.

FixedLine at partner companies
At FachPack, labeling machine manufacturer BBK (Stands 1-506, 1-505 and 1-503 in Hall 1) will be presenting a FixedLine printing unit integrated into a bottle labeling machine. The FixedLine unit prints variable data directly onto the labels while the machine is running. Special printing unit manufacturer Open Date will be showcasing three FixedLine printing units of 70, 140 and 210 millimeters.
