Winners announced in GPA's printed sample contest

Press release from the issuing company

Chicago, IL – GPA is proud to announce the winners of their 2009-2010 Printed Sample Contest, which is designed to recognize outstanding work by GPA's customers. For the fifth year, printers and end users across the country competed in six product categories for Best of Category, and from those, one entry was selected as Best of Show.

Butch & Harold of New York won Best of Show in the Ultra Film Pressure Sensitive Films category for their innovative peel-and-stick children's picture frame kit (pictured), printed on GPA's 6 mil semi-rigid vinyl with microspheric adhesive. Butch & Harold chose this material for its strength and durability, and because it offers the flexibility and clean removability they need. Their repositionable picture frames and wall art are popular with customers of all ages because they can be easily applied without harming the walls, are reusable and can be changed effortlessly, creating endless decorating possibilities.

The Best of Category winners are:
Ultra Bak Plus and Ultra Bak Classic Pressure Sensitive Papers – Sir Speedy Printing of Southern California
Ultra Film Non-Adhesive Films – RPI Graphic Data Solutions of Ohio
Ultra Digital Papers – Imagenation of South Dakokta
Ultra Digital Films – Northern Ohio Printing of Ohio
Ultra Digital Pressure Sensitive Papers – Printing Specialist of Maryland

This year's contest was judged by a panel of three industry experts: Sabine Lenz, founder of PaperSpecs, an independent, comprehensive paper database and resource; Todd Kalagher, President of Finlay in Bloomfield, CT; and Michael Johnston, Principal at Top Graphics in Maryland Heights, MO and creator of the Print Trial Process. Entries were evaluated on: uniqueness of design, number of substrates utilized, complexity of production, application use and quality of printing.

For a printed piece to be eligible, it must be from an actual job or promotion that was printed by a GPA customer on a qualified GPA substrate. This year, GPA received over 80 submissions.

GPA's Printed Sample Contest is a great opportunity for printers and end-users to showcase their best work and gain industry recognition. Each year the competition grows bigger and better, yielding new and unique examples of the opportunities available with GPA substrates.
