Mac OS X finally able to cut/paste files and merge folders

Wednesday, June 30, 2010

Press release from the issuing company

Coventry, United Kingdom - Kapeli today is pleased to announce the release and immediate availability of moveAddict, a new Mac OS X app that brings one highly requested feature to Mac's Finder: the capability to cut and paste files, with merging folders as a bonus. The conspicuous absence of cut and paste in the Finder has always been a reason for complaint, especially from recent Microsoft Windows switchers. Apple has for some unaccountable reason constantly ignored requests in this regard.

Bogdan Popescu, a Software Engineering student at Coventry University, took this as a challenge from Apple - moveAddict is the result of one month's work. moveAddict perfectly blends into the accustomed workflow. It works with the usual keyboard shortcuts for cut and paste (cmd-x/cmd-v). A notification window and Finder file labels provide user-friendly feedback at every stage. Original data remains untouched until the move gets safely registered by the Finder. moveAddict does not modify the Mac system in any way, it is just a small (5 MB) application.

Although moveAddict has just been released, Mac users in search of a way to cut and paste files or merge folders in the Finder already get pointed to the author's site. One of the first moveAddict users described it as "an elegant solution to a problem that should never have existed".

System Requirements:
* Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard

Pricing and Availability:
moveAddict may be purchased for $4.99 (USD). The free version allows moving one object at a time and is otherwise unrestricted.
