Hammer wins environmental leadership award

Press release from the issuing company

Hammer recycles over 85% of its operational waste.  In fact, Hammer is taking steps to raise that to 100% before long.  For that and other environmentally responsible initiatives including consolidating operations and installing high efficiency lighting, Hammer was recently awarded the 2010 Environmental Leadership Award by RIT/Golisano Institute of Sustainability, the Greater Rochester Enterprise business council and theRochester Business Journal.

Some of Hammer's paper waste actually gets reused, going into making tissues, for example.  Keeping downstream waste out of landfills is a key part of Hammer' s Sustainability program.

Looking upstream is also a prime focus for Hammer.  We are able to offer our customer various substrate options:  30% post-consumer waste paper, 10% post-consumer waste wet-strength paper, 10% post-consumer waste film, and even 75% post-industrial waste C1S paper.  Hammer continues to push its materials vendors to provide even higher levels of environment-friendly options.  Hammer is honored to be recognized for its performance in environmentally responsible business practices.  It is just one more way to look to "Lead, Not Follow" the packaging printing industry.
