Standard Brings Feeding and Finishing Efficiency to New Customers

Andover, MA – Standard Finishing Systems, a leading supplier of post-press and paper handling solutions for the graphic arts and print on demand markets, has brought feeding and finishing efficiency to several new customers:

Cadmus-Cenveo recently added a new Standard Horizon BQ-470 four-clamp automated binder, equipped with the Standard Horizon HT-101 in-line three-knife trimmer, to support on-demand bookbinding at their digital print facility in Hurlock, Maryland.  The binders intelligent, icon-based color touchscreen provides quick, easy and automated set-up, and allows for instant recall of regular jobs from memory.  According to Trish Chintella, Vice President & General Manager, "The BQ-470 and HT-101 have helped us gain tremendous efficiency in our short-run bookbinding, with no compromise in quality."  The binder sits alongside a Standard Horizon StitchLiner 5500 saddlestitching line that Cadmus purchased last year.  The sale was completed by Standard dealer Standard Graphics Mid-Atlantic of Elkridge, Maryland. Cenveo, Inc. is the third largest graphics communication company in North America and a leading provider of print and visual communications, with one-stop services from design through fulfillment.  

Total Printing Systems, based in Newton, Illinois, recently added a Standard Hunkeler Roll-to-Cut/Stack system running in-line with the Screen Truepress Jet520. Featuring the UW6 unwinder, CS6-II rotary cutter with chip-out, SE6 offset stacker module, and LS6 non-stop stacker, the system delivers straight and fully separated book blocks for near-line finishing and runs at speeds up to 420 fpm. "This new roll-to-stack solution has dramatically lowered our paper waste and the downtime associated with cleaning and re-alignment", says owner  Rich Lindemann. "We're very pleased that this equipment is allowing us to meet tighter customer deadlines while providing excellent book quality." The company also owns Standard Horizon BQ-460 and BQ-470 Perfect Binding and StitchLiner 5500 Saddlestitching systems.
