CGATS: Color Characterization Data Practice Released

September 4, 2003 -- The American National Standards Institute’s Committee for Graphic Arts Technologies Standards (CGATS) Subcommittee 4 (Process Control) has developed a CGATS Recommended Industry Practice: Color characterization data set development - Press run guidelines. The purpose of the document is to facilitate the successful execution of press runs that are conducted for the purpose of deriving color characterization data. The document addresses planning, preparation, printing and post-printing steps. It includes a sample documentation checklist for offset lithography, which can be modified as appropriate for any type of printing. As a service to the industry, NPES The Association for Suppliers of Printing, Publishing and Converting Technologies, CGATS Secretariat, is providing this Recommended Industry Practice as a PDF file that can be downloaded free from the Standards Work Room web site at www.npes.org/standards/workroom.html. In addition to the document, the sample form contained in Annex A is also provided as a separate Word file that can be downloaded and modified to meet the needs of the user.Additional Recommended Industry Practices relating to the development of color characterization data sets are under development.
