Hopkins founder enters new phase

Press release from the issuing company

This week Jim Hopkins announced to the employee owners of Hopkins Printing that he has decided to move into a "semi-retirement" phase of his life.

Jim started his first print shop in his garage more than 35 years ago with a $2000 bank loan and $1000 from his mother.  J & A Printing grew into Hop-To Printing.  Hop-To Printing grew into J.F. Hopkins & Associates.  J.F. Hopkins & Associates became what we are today, Hopkins Printing.

Jim's commitment to our trade, our customers, our employees, our suppliers all center around "treating others as you would like to be treated."  That commitment has helped Hopkins Printing to become one of the leading printing companies in Ohio to work for and to procure print and graphic communications solutions.

Jim has received many honors over the years including being inducted into the Printing Impressions/RIT Printing Industry Hall of Fame, being named one of Columbus Ohio's 10 Best CEOs by the Columbus C.E.O. Magazine, being inducted into the Junior Achievement Central Ohio Business Hall of Fame, being named Craftsman of the Year by the Columbus Club of Printing House Craftsmen and he was awarded the Franklinton Award by the Printing Industries of Ohio and Northern Kentucky.

Jim has served on and chaired many boards during the past several years including the Homeless Families Foundation, the Printing Industries of Ohio and Northern Kentucky, the Printing Industry Education Funds and Skills Ohio.  He was on advisory councils for Columbus State Community College and the Northeast Career Center.  Jim was also a trustee for the Printing Industries Health Care Plan.

Jim and Arnie Hopkins have been married 46 years and plan to cut back the number of days they work in the plant to spend some quality "retirement" time together.  They enjoy reading, traveling, spending time with their four grandchildren and boating at Buckeye Lake.

This week Jim announced that Roy Waterhouse will become President and Vicky Tilton will become COO.  Jim will remain CEO and will continue to help guide Roy, Vicky and the entire management team as we continue to grow and improve as a successful company.
