WoodWing releases Content Station 7.1

Press release from the issuing company

Zaandam, The Netherlands – WoodWing Software, renowned for its innovative cross-media publishing solutions, today announced the release of Content Station 7.1. This new release includes support for the Digital Magazine Tools for iPad, allows third-party developers to create plug-ins for Content Station, and contains many other new features and improvements to support an efficient cross-media publishing process.

Content Station is part of Enterprise, WoodWing's cross-media publishing system. It's an application designed to help content producers create, edit, manage and publish all types of files regardless of their destination.

Erik Schut, President of WoodWing Software, said, "This new version of Content Station continues to support three important aspects of our development strategy. First, we are helping our publishing customers reach their business goals by allowing them to efficiently publish to the iPad. Next, we are always looking to increase the openness and flexibility of our solutions, enabling publishers to profit from the benefits of a fully integrated system without the risk of vendor lock-in. The last aspect is to further unlock time-saving and cost-cutting potential within publishers' organizations."

Extensive new functionality
Third-party vendors can now create plug-ins for Content Station. As a result, new functionality will become available within the same user-interface, removing the need to swap applications. The flat-planning solution providers dataplan and Tell are the first vendors to employ this new technology.

When content is published to print, online or mobile channels, the publishing dialog shown when publishing to an output channel can now be fully tailored for each specific publication channel. For example, the dialog for the publication of content to a Drupal Web site can now include a "Promote to front page" checkbox.

Further, a number of small usability enhancements has been made to save small bits of time throughout the day. This includes the ability to set a new status on multiple objects, like images and articles, in a single step, which will save huge amounts of time. Many other improvements to Content Station have been made, aimed at offering the easiest environment in which to create and publish cross-media content.

Content Station 7.1 is part of WoodWing's Digital Magazine Tools for iPad
The new version of Content Station is also one of the main components of WoodWing's Digital Magazine Tools for iPad. It allows publishers to manage the content of a Digital Magazine, define the order of stories, and package the magazine's content for publication.
