Sappi introduces "Grow digital" brands

Press release from the issuing company

Digital printing already offers a number of known costs saving and improved print outcome benefits – elimination of plate making, personalised communication and on demand print.

The conundrum of excellence versus cost when printing digitally has been solved by the launch of two new digital paper brands by Sappi, under the umbrella "Grow digital".

TOP is a new coated digital toner paper available in gloss and silk finishes and a range of weights from 115 to 350 gsm. It is currently being approved for use on HP Indigo, Kodak NexPress and Canon imagePRESS systems and thoroughly tested on Xerox systems. TOP has been created to provide an 'offset look and feel' with enhanced colour gamut, excellent toner adhesion and mechanical properties. TOP benefits from green credentials and is manufactured out of a mill that produces a significant part of its energy from its own biomass.

The new JET brand for inkjet printing, uncoated, is particularly appropriate for transactional and direct marketing actions. It is designed to offer very high print quality with excellent water fastness and an elimination of bleeding and feathering. It has a high bulk improving the runability in post-processing as well as the quality feel of the prints. JET features full colour inkjet functionality, premium whiteness, high opacity and low show-through. JET is sustainably produced at Biberist mill (Switzerland) FSC and PEFC Chain-of-Custody certified.

Anne-Sophie Gombart, Business Manager Digital Papers, Sappi comments: "Until now choosing digital has been hampered by the high cost associated with achieving an exceptional outcome. JET and TOP have been created to address this and offer printers and end users a profitable alternative, so they can grow their digital business."

Sappi supports sustainable forestry, with FSC and PEFC Chain-of-Custody-certification, and by procuring wood from well known and reliable producers.
