Wednesday, May 19, 2010

Press release from the issuing company

Digital Print Republic announces that two new software products will be available on a pay-as-you-go basis via its website from today. FileFix from TimeHarvest and DesignMerge from Meadows Publishing will be distributed via the website, making it easy and economical to access for all members worldwide.

Digital Print Republic is a fast expanding and major global resource for all those involved in the world of digital printing. Backed by industry experts it brings information exchange and value added products and services for printers and suppliers alike. Membership of Digital Print Republic is entirely free.

Chris Baker, a veteran of the digital print sector and co-founder of the website, states, "Pay-as-you-go software offers digital printers added flexibility as they grow their businesses. We firmly believe this is the way software distribution is headed, so we were delighted when a number of suppliers agreed to distribute in this way through our site, for our members."

FileFix, a database-fixing program, can be downloaded by members of the Digital Print Republic website for under $60 for 3 days use. Geoff Stephens, CEO of TimeHarvest, comments, "The team at Digital Print Republic approached us last November with the idea of developing a range of pay-as-you-go software useful for digital printers. I think it is just what the market requires. We will be selling exclusively through Digital Print Republic and bringing more products to market during 2010."

The award winning DesignMerge Pro variable data plug-in from Meadows Publishing is an add-on component for Adobe InDesign and QuarkXPress It allows users to create customized marketing documents by linking an InDesign document to a database file. Then, each copy of a printed document can be "personalized", changing items such as name, address, and even graphics. The entire process is database-driven, completely flexible, and very easy to use.

DesignMerge Pro Starter, also available in a pay-as-you-go format through the Digital Print Republic site,  allows customers to get into variable data printing with 30,000 records plus telephone support, for under $1000. "This gives a printing facility the ability to test the VDP market and start producing personalized documents immediately without a major initial investment," said Greg Bane, DesignMerge channel manager, "The idea behind DesignMerge is very simple – just take any normal InDesign or QuarkXPress document, and "Make it Variable."

"This purchasing model provides a great deal of flexibility as the records can be used across a number of jobs over whatever time period," states Baker, "In addition, both FileFix and DesignMerge are very competitively priced, presenting an exceptionally low barrier to entry."

Phill Rodgers, Digital Print Republic technical director and co-founder, adds, "A number of software suppliers have approached us and are very enthusiastic about using the site as a global channel. We shall bring more innovative software packages to our members as fast as we can, so expect more very soon!"
