Omet holds open house and seminar

Press release from the issuing company

The seminar titled “Creating opportunities in the label and packaging business” was held during Omet's  first Open House of held at their headquarters April 28, 2010.

After a short presentation of the Omet group of companies, the seminar presented a study of the label and packaging market (figures, trends, developments), with an aim to define today’s challenges and what professional printers are facing in their everyday business.

At this point, the presentation highlights what is a ‘must have’, as for technology and operation, to meet the end-users (and brand owners) expectations.

A short overview of Omet press range followed. The spotlight was on specific problem-solving press equipment: combination printing, total press control, automatic print register control, flexibility in substrates, etc. The solutions differ as the reference to label printing was handled in the morning session and to packaging in the afternoon session. The main goal being the same: print effective short runs involving limited waste and time savings.

Time was devoted to presenting Omet Service :  specifically remote assistance and web cam live technical service. During the presentation the audience was guided by demonstration to determine the advantages of each activity.

The presentation concentrates on X-Flex for the label business (morning session) and VaryFlex-F1, in-line platform press designed for packaging printing on a wide range of substrates and characterized by a broad choice of processes in combination (afternoon session). A new VaryFlex-F1 in 850 mm (33”) configuration was presented during the demo session as the perfect press for packaging printing in direct competition with CI large presses and sheet-fed carton presses (specific cases were studied as examples).

The presentation continued with a short introduction to shrink sleeve and IML label printing and the advantages of Omet presses in these specific market segments. The Seminar ended offering an overview of converting and finishing possibilities utilizing Omet equipment.

Omet and their partners from different fields have gathered in Lecco to answer customers’ questions and remarks, cooperating with Omet with the common goal to create and present new opportunities for the label and packaging market.
