The Printing House Ltd. Installs First iGen3 in Canada

TORONTO, Aug. 26 - The Printing House Ltd. has completed another first in the Canadian printing industry, installing the country's first Xerox DocuColor iGen3 Digital Production Press. The iGen3, installed last week at TPH's Bathurst Street head office, is a 100 impression-per-minute press that provides benchmark print speed; image quality that compares favorably to offset; and enhanced paper handling capabilities. "This is a significant investment for our business, one that will allow us to deliver an even wider range of color products to our customers," said Earle O'Born, president and CEO, The Printing House Ltd. "TPH created the quick print market in Canada more than 40 years ago, and we are once again breaking new ground by being the first to offer the very latest technology of iGen3 to the Canadian market." With the TPH purchase, Xerox is making its first delivery in Canada of its most significant production technology platform in a decade. The iGen3 is the result of more than $1B (US) in research and development, and its invention generated more than 400 patents. "The DocuColor iGen3 offers a new stream of revenue-generating color applications to printers like TPH and enables Xerox to expand its offerings for the graphic arts and printing markets," said Doug Lord, president and CEO, Xerox Canada. "By bringing iGen3 to Canada, we are demonstrating our commitment to the graphic arts and printing markets while fueling Xerox's overall growth." The Printing House Ltd., Canada's largest privately held quick printing branch business, will use the DocuColor iGen3 to expand its business by increasing production of high quality, short-run full-colour applications. To ensure that DocuColor iGen3 customers are fully leveraging the press' capabilities, Xerox has created new service and support programs. SmartPress Production Consultants serve as part of a team of Xerox colour production specialists available to work with product owners to help build revenue- generating volume and maximize business potential. They are being provided at no cost for the first two months of early DocuColor iGen3 installs. Pricing With list prices starting at $995,000 (CDN) the DocuColor iGen3 provides unparalleled speed, productivity, image quality and paper-handling capabilities. Canadian pricing programs for service and consumables also announced today include: - Two full-service maintenance plans are available, one for high volume and one for lower volumes, which include ongoing service by Xerox technicians. Under these plans, the customer will have the option of purchasing consumables by the container or by metered impressions. Service plans will be tailored for each customer based on their work environment and hours of operation.
