Johnson & Quin installs EFI Monarch to streamline operations and centralize data

Press release from the issuing company

Foster City, Calif. – EFI, a world leader in customer-focused digital printing innovation, today announced that Johnson & Quin, Inc., a full-service direct mail printing and production company in operation for 134 years, has chosen the Monarch solution to streamline processes, smooth workflow and centralize job information. Johnson & Quin replaced its previous MIS system with Monarch Foundation (formally Hagen OA), a flexible, powerful, intelligent and automated print production and management solution.

Johnson & Quin began looking for a comprehensive system in mid-2008, when the needs of the company had outgrown the capabilities of its former MIS system. "We're unique in that we're really a direct mailing company that offers full production capabilities, and so we use cost-based estimating versus the more common price list method," said Bob Arkema, vice president at Johnson & Quin. "This was problematic with our old system and for other vendors we evaluated. EFI Monarch enabled us to implement a complete solution right out of the box."

The ability to use cost-based estimating was a key decision factor in selecting Monarch. The system's Parts Module, which enables Johnson & Quin to easily track components throughout the production process, has been an unanticipated benefit of the system.

After only two months of running on Monarch, Johnson & Quin is already seeing huge benefits. "Monarch streamlines our processes, with all the information being pulled from the estimate on through the invoice," said Linda Desmond, financial systems administrator. "This has smoothed our workflow considerably, and centralized all job information, which is a tremendous time saver."

In addition to product attributes, Johnson & Quin was looking for high-quality service and support. "We know we made the right product choice, but it really comes down to customer service, and EFI has been exceptional," said Arkema. "The training and implementation support were outstanding, and we look forward to great service in the future."

"EFI is proud to offer products that address customers' pain points and increase their performance and profitability," said Jeff White, general manager of EFI Monarch. "We are equally focused on providing customer service and support that is second to none. We're excited that Johnson & Quin has become a Monarch user and has seen positive improvements since day one."
