Hitachi Introduces New ScanIT Scanning Solution For Digital Document Publishers

SIMI VALLEY, Calif., August 18, 2003 - Hitachi Printing Solutions America, Inc. (HPRSA,) a subsidiary of Hitachi Printing Solutions, Ltd., Japan, today introduced ScanIT, a network-based scanning solution designed to meet the needs of demanding print@hat require light production scanning. ScanIT is a bundled product and includes a scanner, software and accessories that provide a complete scanning solution that compliments HRPSA’s Digital Document Publisher (DDP) line of production-quality printers. It offers customers the ability to capture, organize and modify hard-copy documents and merge them directly into existing workflow. “ScanIT was developed for customers who are interested in a unified solution that meets both their scanning and high-volume printing needs,” said Leonard Stone, Vice President, Americas Printer Division, HPRSA. “Hitachi’s DDP printers produce up to 800,000 pages per month and ScanIT allows users to seamlessly alter and integrate scanned documents into a production workflow of that magnitude - saving valuable time and resources.” ScanIT is available as an add-on option for HPRSA’s DDP printers. Each individual bundle can support multiple printers and comes equipped with a Panasonic KV-S6055W scanner with 256MB RAM, SCSI cable, cleaning kit, ScanSoft’s PaperPort Office Pro V.9 user software and a computer-based training CD. Features include: · Scanning speeds that reach 56 pages per minute in simplex mode and 92 images per minute in duplex mode · Ability to scan paper of multiple sizes, thicknesses and weights · Up to 600 dpi scanning resolution · One-year warranty The ScanIT solution works in conjunction with HPRSA’s DDP 70e and DDP 92 digital, monochrome, “workhorse” printers that are ideal for production printing departments and vertical markets, such as today’s transactional printing industries.
