IMPIKA to unveil the iEngine 1000 at IPEX

Press release from the issuing company

Aubagne, France - Visitors to IPEX 2010 will have an opportunity to preview the technological, graphical and economic advantages of the latest addition to the IMPIKA line of digital print engines: the iEngine 1000.

The unique and innovative iEngine 1000 design is the direct result of IMPIKA's longstanding mastery of inkjet technology. The simple, flexible and compact iEngine 1000 integrates key functionalities in addressing customer needs, contributing to the differentiating strategy in the IMPIKA product line, along with graphic performance and economic utility.

The new concept
The iEngine 1000 is the first of a new line of "packaged" print engines in which development efforts were focused on defining an integrated solution.

The print engine is based on an advanced, state-of-the-art platform that reflects the latest in DOD inkjet technology. Built with latest generation, Kyocera piezoelectric modules, the iEngine 1000 takes previous IMPIKA print engine designs a step farther in terms of printhead maintenance, customer adaptability and technical requirements.

The iEngine 1000 is the only compact model on the market to incorporate as a standard feature, a system for the automatic self cleaning of printheads upon change of ink cartridges. This maintenance is machine controlled and accomplished without interruption of the work flow or operator intervention.

The iEngine 1000's flexible configuration allows reconfiguration to suit customer requirements. The iEngine 1000 can be operated with water-based inks, with pigments or dyes for commercial type porous surfaces. The iEngine can also operate with UV inks for printing on a wide variety of industrial surfaces such as plastics, metals and other materials.

Flexibility is also reflected in a software environment which may be adapted according to applications, whether "full variable" for printing online custom data or "workflow" for small and medium print runs.

High performance
The iEngine 1000 benchmark is unique thanks to its many features and distinguishes itself in a variety of configurations that combine both speed and resolution.

For example, when configured for water-based inks, the iEngine 1000 is a leader in monochrome printing, producing 600 m/mn (2000 ft/min) at a resolution of 600x300 dpi, and 300 m/mn at 600x600 dpi. In terms of color performance, the iEngine 1000 outputs 150 m/mn (500 ft/min) at 600x300 dpi and 75 m/mn at 600x600 dpi. Such performances suggest the iEngine 1000 will be attractive to printers producing a wide range of printing applications. The iEngine 1000 is now offering print widths of 108mm with four levels of gray and optimized adjustment of print heights to enable high quality graphics for all print surfaces.

Integration
The compact size of the iEngine 1000 and its "all-in-one" concept radically simplify integration and maintenance. It can be installed on existing paper transport for simple applications. It can also be integrated on equipment developed for finishing or processing of mail.

Applications
A range of possible iEngine 1000 configurations allows many applications corresponding to different market requirements. The iEngine 1000 is cost-effective for monochrome applications such as addressing, coding, overprinting and numbering as well as for colour applications like logo and advertising overprints on commercial documents. For production of secure documents, the iEngine 1000 can print any form of identification document (passports, ID cards...). A wide variety of industrial objects decoration is available on multiple surfaces: laminates, metals, glass, etc.

At Ipex
IMPIKA will launch the iEngine 1000 at Ipex next May (Hall 11, C200) with a colour customization application for envelopes. Demonstrations and printed samples will allow visitors to see how the flexibility of the iEngine 1000 can meet customer needs in constantly evolving markets.

"We are very pleased to offer the iEngine 1000 as further proof of our capacity for innovation. The 'all-in-one' concept behind this printer design is the direct result of our focus on simplifying inkjet technologies. We chose to launch the iEngine 1000 with a demonstration of customized envelopes -a logical extension of our iPrint range- designed for today's marketers working at the cutting edge of targeting and print personalization", says Paul Morgavi, IMPIKA CEO.

With the most competitive price-performance ratio on the market, the iEngine 1000 has every chance of grabbing the spotlight at the IMPIKA stand at Ipex 2010.
