Friday, April 23, 2010
Rochester, NY - Monroe Litho, a leader nationally in environmentally sustainable printing, announced today that it is teaming with Kodak and Mohawk Fine Papers to utilize Twitter to tell the story of the printing of a publication from original design concept to print and distribution. The project dubbed "OneOnOne" will utilize video, photographs and interviews posted on Twitter (twitter.com/monroelitho) to follow the printing of Kodak's "One Magazine".
"To be able to team with companies in our industry that share an interest in utilizing Social Media is very exciting" said Tony Harris, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Monroe Litho. "While print is changing, it is still a very viable communication tool. We hope that by utilizing Twitter we can reach new audiences and showcase what print has to offer as well as tell an interesting story".
One magazine, a customer-focused print publication from Kodak's Graphic Communications Group (GCG), debuted in October 2006 to customers and industry leaders alike. Case histories and feature articles in One focus on challenges that printers face and the strategies they are using to strengthen and grow their businesses.
"One magazine is just one of the many ways we communicate with our customers," says Donna Preston, Director, B2B Marketing Communications, Kodak. "We know that social media is growing quickly as an alternative channel, and this project with Monroe Litho combines the best of both worlds. Using Twitter, they are providing a unique insight into the real-time production of One magazine in an open, interactive forum."
The Project was the original idea of William "Skeeter" Harris, President of Mac Village Productions. As a Social Media Practitioner; Skeeter helped launch Monroe Litho on Twitter. "Monroe Litho was the ideal candidate to engage in Social Media marketing. They have a commitment to their products and marketplace and used Twitter effectively to communicate this value."
The companies are recording the production of the entire project from the original design concepts, paper manufacturing by Mohawk, printing by Monroe Litho and the distribution by Kodak beginning May 18th in Birmingham, UK at IPEX, one of the world's biggest events for print, publishing and media.
The project will highlight the use of use of environmentally sustainable printing done by Monroe Litho one of the first printers in the country to be certified by the Sustainable Green Print Partnership (www.sgppartnership.org) and will utilize new environmentally focused products from Kodak and Mohawk.
The magazine will be printed using Kodak Trillian SP Thermal Plates printing plates which are engineered for longer life and will print on Mohawk's new FSC-certified Loop Silk Coated paper which contains 50% Post Consumer Waste and utilizes Green-E energy for its manufacture.
Video and photographs are being shot utilizing Kodak cameras and will be posted on a daily basis on Twitter beginning approximately two weeks prior to the beginning of IPEX.
