PaperManager provides Chain of Custody tracking

Press release from the issuing company

Oakland, CA - Go2Paper, a leading provider of e-business tools and services for the global paper industry, announced today a new feature on PaperManager to track the Chain of Custody certificates for their customers.  PaperManager, a Software as a Service (SaaS) or Cloud Computing model, allows publishers, catalogers and retailers to execute their paper orders and manage inventory with their suppliers and printers.

Environmentally conscious paper buyers seek to purchase paper for their inserts, catalogs, or magazines which has been certified by an independent forest management standard such as the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes (PEFC), Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), or Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI). In some cases, company policy makes it mandatory that 100% of the paper purchased for their publications is certified paper.

Chain of Custody (CoC) is the method to trace the raw material from the forest to the paper mill through to the final printed product.  The CoC process verifies that the wood raw material used to manufacture the paper comes from well managed, legally sourced, and certified by one of the accepted third-party management standards.  In order for a printed product to carry a standard's label of certification, each party in the supply chain must be CoC certified.

Go2Paper's VP Development, Dave Kettmann, states "Adding this new feature provides our customers with a simple method to track and manage their certified paper."  With PaperManager, the paper buyer submits a paper order for certified paper, and the paper mill or broker confirms the certification in their order confirmation.  The entire process is tracked through the PaperManager system complete with each party's certification numbers.

The service is being offered to Retailers, Catalogers, and Magazine Publishers on a monthly subscription without any upfront fees or integration costs so customers can start using it immediately.
