Fort Mill, SC - New hope and opportunity was provided to Specialist Phillip Tyler Crump of the 178 Engineering Battalion from Rock Hill, SC when he was presented with a fully paid 3 month scholarship certificate to allow him to retrain for a career in the Flexographic industry.

The award was presented by Mr. Art Fields to Specialist Crump and certificates of appreciation were also presented to Major Corol Dobson of the South Carolina National Guard and Mr. Ron & Kathryn Harper of the Harper Corporation of America.

The award ceremony was held at the Flexographic Trade Services facility in Fort Mill, SC and was attended by member companies and vendor sponsors from within the Flexographic industry.

FTS is a member sponsored organization that provides training, technical support and consultancy to the Flexographic industry, and has trained printers from over seventeen different countries; and been able to help placed more than 400 students in a new career within the industry.

Art Fields the founder of FTS stated," We are soon to celebrate our tenth anniversary in business, and I could not have thought of a better way of doing so than being able to help our returning veterans gain employment in an entirely new career. This could not have been possible without the support of our member companies, vendor sponsors, but most importantly Ron & Kathryn Harper who with their generosity helped FTS establish our first Harper Scholarship Fund, and now the launch of the Harper Army National Guard Scholarship fund."

This is a National Scholarship and is available to all returning veterans and their spouses. It is hoped that sufficient sponsorship funding will be raised to be able to provide a minimum of 100 scholarships during 2010.
