BÖWE BELL + HOWELL to showcase postage-saving solutions at National Postal Forum

Press release from the issuing company

Wheeling, Ill. – As mailers continue to look for ways to reduce expenses and increase productivity, BÖWE BELL + HOWELL (BBH) will highlight solutions that are targeted at achieving maximum postage discounts and greater efficiency in booth #214 at the National Postal Forum, April 11 to April 14, in Nashville, Tenn.

In addition to product demonstrations, BBH will feature presentations by four of its NetSort sorting software customers. BBH NetSort software has already enabled 10 mailers to achieve full-service Intelligent Mail certification, and has become an industry leader in providing end-to-end solutions for implementing Basic or Full-Service Intelligent Mail Barcode (IMB).

The customer presentations will alternate with presentations by BBH experts who will share their tips on ways to improve efficiency, enhance mailing operations, reduce costs and stay current with changing USPS regulations. The presentations will be held in a separate BBH booth (#131).

"Our two booths at NPF will allow us to show leading solutions and provide a forum to share our insights about meeting postal and regulatory challenges," said Mike Swift, president of BBH's Postal Software and Sorting Division. "In addition, attendees can hear first-hand from our customers about their own experiences with BBH solutions. More importantly, it provides us with the opportunity to hear from attendees - what their needs are, how they view the changing landscape, and where they see new opportunities. This helps us develop targeted solutions for their long-term success."

BBH solutions to be demonstrated at the show include:

Criterion APEX Sorting System
The Criterion APEX sorter is designed with the latest technology to increase productivity, process a wider variety of mail, and ensure greater flexibility for ever-changing needs. The Criterion APEX sorter runs at speeds up to 35 to 40 percent faster than previous models while providing the ability to read more mail than ever before. The Criterion APEX sorter can be configured as a multi-line optical character reader (MLOCR) or barcode reader, and is available in multiple models.

NetSort Sorting Software Platform
NetSort supports full-service use of the IMB, with functionality that includes the ability to manage unique mailpiece IDs for the required 45 days across multiple sorters and sites; manage uniqueness and relationship of/between trays and containers; and create and submit electronic mailing reports. Significant additional USPS discounts can also be earned through NetSort's ability to merge mail from multiple-site operations. NetSort also improves mail tracking by using item-level tracking and centralized data for mail moved between sites.

Combo14 Inserting System
Combining the functionality of multiple inserters, the Combo14 system handles applications for nearly any mailing operation, processing envelopes at rated speeds of up to 14,000 cycles per hour for #10 letters, 14,000 for 6" x 9" and up to 9,000 cycles per hour for flats. Its rapid changeover from letters to any format size – in minutes, rather than hours – makes the Combo14 system the foremost inserter for flexible, high-speed applications. If the operating environment only requires letter processing, the Combo14's design will yield the productivity equal to or greater than inserters limited to handling letter-only formats, and provide additional flexibility should production requirements change in the future.

JETVision Postal Quality Package
BBH has developed the JETVision Postal Quality Package to help mailers identify mailpieces with poor data quality in-line on high-speed inserters.

The JETVision Postal Quality Package is a vision-based inspection solution that integrates with virtually any system from any manufacturer. It reads mailpiece addresses at high production speeds while simultaneously testing them against a USPS-certified database that contains the most recent CASS, DPV and Move Update data. With this solution, mailers will know which mailpieces and trays will not meet USPS standards before submission to the postal service, and gain valuable data for improving address quality.

Visitors may also learn about other BBH postal solutions at BCC Software, booth #132.
