Maxson provides dual position roll stand

Press release from the issuing company

Maxson Automatic Machinery Company provides a dual position shaftless roll stand that permits loading one unwind position during operation, requires a small foot print and can be equipped with a powered roll delivery system that facilitates roll loading.

The Dual Position Roll Stand is able to handle two rolls.  Each position can lift a roll up to 84" (2134 mm) in diameter and up to 7,000 pounds (3,180 kg) in weight at speeds of up to 3000 fpm (914 mpm).  Hydraulically powered, each position loads a roll by lowering both arms and then moving each toward the roll.  Sufficient clamping pressure is exerted to drive the chucks into the core.

On the Operator side of each unwind position is a skew adjustment. The hand wheel allows the roll stand's arbor to move in either direction to compensate for baggy edges in a roll. Controls on the Operator side allow each unwind position to side lay independently across the width of the roll stand.

Using the motorized side loading trolley, the Operator simply positions the roll between the stand's arms. The roll stand then cradles the roll, chucks it, and lifts it into position. This self loading feature permits roll changes within 3 – 4 minutes. The roll stand is equipped with automatic tension control that reduces the brake pressure as the roll diameter decreases.
