Standard Finishing announces new product installations

Andover, MA – Standard Finishing Systems, a leading supplier of post-press and paper handling solutions for the/ graphic arts and print on demand markets, announces the following new product installations:

NX Media, Inc., based in Houston, TX recently increased their finishing capabilities with the purchase of a Standard Horizon StitchLiner 5500 saddlestitching system with in-line three-knife trimmer.   "The StitchLiner has allowed us to increase our productivity, because of the fast automated changeovers and set-ups.  And, being able to load flat sheet signatures directly into the StitchLiner helps us to eliminate the labor involved with off-line signature folding" said Martina Yang, Owner, NX Media.   Since installation the productivity of the StitchLiner has helped NX Media to increase the number of saddlestitching jobs they can efficiently process each day.  The sale was completed by Standard dealer LSS Digital of Houston, Texas.  NX Media is a leading provider of digital media and print services, and covers all phases of the graphic communications processes from origination of the idea (design, print, and new media) to reproduction, finishing, and distribution.

Active Bindery of Calgary, Alberta recently added a new Standard Horizon BQ-470 automated floor-model perfect binder to their full-service bindery. The binder's intelligent, icon-based color touchscreen provides quick, easy and automated set-up, and allows for instant recall of regular jobs from memory.  According to Azim Jiwani, owner, "The BQ-470 is a great addition to our bindery operations here at Active. It has enabled us to expand our binding capabilities to include both offset and digital color output, and gives us an opportunity to explore PUR adhesive binding in the future."  With quick changeovers, professional-quality binds, speeds up to 1,350 books per hour, and the ability to bind book up to 2.55 inches thick, the BQ-470 is ideally suited to short to medium run lengths. The sale was completed by Standard dealer Cortech Quality Presentation Products of Maple Creek, Saskatchewan.  Active Bindery has been serving Calgary and area printers for the past 20 years with a full range of services that include folding, collating, stitching, binding, custom tab cutting and laminating. 

Mercury Print Productions recently added a Standard Hunkeler Roll-to-Cut/Stack system running in-line with the HP W7200 printer. Located in their state-of-the-art printing facility in Rochester, New York, the system includes the UW6 unwinder, CS6 cutter, SE6 offset stacker module, and LS6 non-stop stacker and offers high-speed delivery of straight and fully separated book blocks for near-line finishing. "This new solution enables us to produce offset-quality, full-bleed books quickly and accurately for our clients to meet their short-run demands," says Jeff Quartley, Operations Manager at Mercury Print Productions. The company also owns Standard Horizon BQ-470 Perfect Binding and StitchLiner 5500 Saddlestitching systems.
