International Paper launches new packaging for its Rey range

Press release from the issuing company

Brussels, Belgium – International Paper, the world's largest paper and packaging company, has launched new packaging for its Rey, eco-friendly range of office papers.

The Rey product range includes; Rey Copy – for volume efficiencies, Rey Office – the multipurpose paper, and Rey Text & Graphics – the high-end multipurpose paper with extreme whiteness and velvet finish.

The new packaging highlights the recognized environmental performances of the Rey range, not least that it is produced at Saillat, one of the world's best performing sites in terms of CO2 emissions. Since 1990, Saillat has reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by 78% (significantly better than the paper industry average of -27%). At the same time the Saillat mill also uses thinning from certified forests or those that are in the process of becoming certified, with its main forestry supplies located within just 150km of the mill, reducing any transport related environmental impacts that may occur.

Saillat also recovers the resources from the furniture and framing industries which they cannot use for its wood supply. In terms of energy efficiencies and performance, some 85% of Saillat's energy requirements are met by the on-site production of green energy (biomass). Again this is significantly better than the paper industry average of 53%, according to the Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI).

The new Rey packaging not only highlights the environmental importance and performance of the Saillat production site, but will also display the environmental accreditation the Rey product range has earned, such as the European Ecolabel, the official European eco-certification. This label is awarded only after strict assessment of a product's impact on the environment – throughout its life cycle form raw material through to distribution.

The Rey range packaging will also display the PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes) logo, which guarantees that a product is made from sustainably managed forests.

The Rey product range is available in the following weights and sizes; Rey Copy – A4/A3 80gsm, Rey Office – A4/A3 80, 90 & 100gsm and Folio sheet 80,90, 100 & 120gsm, Rey Text & Graphics – A4/A3 & SRA2 80,90, 100, 120 and 160gsm.
