NYU names Bowne & Co. Chairman Prism Award Recipient

New York - New York University today named David J. Shea, Chairman and CEO of Bowne & Co., the winner of the 2010 Prism Award. The Prism Award is presented annually in recognition of distinguished leadership in the graphic communications media industry.

Sponsored by the NYU Master of Arts in Graphic Communications Management and Technology program, within the Division of Media Industry Studies and Design, at the NYU School of Continuing and Professional Studies, the 2010 Prism Award will be presented to Mr. Shea during the 24th Annual Prism Award Luncheon on Wednesday, June 10th in New York City. This year's ceremony will be held at the historical Gotham Hall located at 36th Street and Broadway.

Previous NYU Prism Award recipients include: Vyomesh (VJ) Joshi, Executive Vice President, HP's Imaging and Printing Group; Cathleen Black, President of Hearst Magazines; Antonio M. Perez, President and CEO of Eastman Kodak Company; Anne M. Mulcahy, Chairman of Xerox Corporation; Janet L. Robinson, President of The New York Times and past CEOs of R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company, Sun Chemical Corporation and The Washington Post.

Laura C. Reid, Vice President of Production at Hearst Magazines, and Francis A. McMahon, Director of Marketing, Americas Graphic Arts Business, Imaging and Printing Group for HP are co-chairpersons of this year's Prism Committee.

The net proceeds of the Prism Award Luncheon help fund student scholarships as well as student and program support for the internationally renowned NYU-SCPS Graphic Communications management graduate program, which offers curricula to develop the next generation of industry leaders. In 2008, the program won the Electronic Document Systems Foundation (EDSF) Award for Excellence in Education and Innovation in Higher Education. This foundation fosters education, encourages innovation and research initiatives to build the next generation of digital content and delivery professionals.

Since its inception, the Prism Award Luncheon has raised millions of dollars for scholarships for students in the program.

The Graphic Communications management graduate program (www.scps.nyu.edu/gcmt) is based within the Division of Media Industry Studies and Design at NYU-SCPS, one of the University's several colleges and schools. NYU-SCPS has for 75 years focused on creating applied professional programs for people who are already in the workforce. In addition to the Graphic Communications Management and Technology program, the school offers additional industry-focused Master's degrees in areas such as publishing, digital imaging and design, integrated marketing, public relations and corporate communications fundraising, human resource management and development, management and systems, real estate, construction management, hospitality industry studies, tourism and travel management, and sports management.Tickets for the June 10th Prism Award Luncheon are available from $750 per person to $6,000 for a Sponsor's Table of eight, and $10,000 for a Co-Chairmanship (which includes a dais seat as well as a table of eight).
