SMART Papers launches new Knightkote 50

Press release from the issuing company

Hamilton, Ohio - U.S. papermaker SMART Papers today launched its new Knightkote 50 brand, a complete line of premium coated printing papers featuring the highest amount of post-consumer waste (PCW) fiber and recycled content, exceptional full color print fidelity, and unmatched performance in high-speed printing and converting equipment.

Knightkote 50 is an FSC-certified, premium matte coated line targeting all companies, nonprofits and other organizations in North America and worldwide that want to use the most environmentally responsible coated printing papers available today.  The new papers are now available for immediate shipment.

"This newest advance for the Knightkote Matte brand is continuing validation of our commitment to provide the best quality and value in sustainable premium coated and cast-coated papers," said Tim Needham, chairman of SMART Papers.

"Knightkote 50 delivers the new 'green' standard in coated papers today," added Tom Kleimeyer, director of marketing for SMART Papers. "When you look closely at all the options in the marketplace, this new line of coated papers is the best overall value in print quality, performance and environmental stewardship."

Fortune 500 company specifies Knightkote 50
Among the first companies to specify Knightkote 50 is the Eaton Corp., an $11.9 billion-revenue diversified power management company with more than 70,000 employees worldwide.  The paper is used on the full 90,000-copy print run of Eaton's 2009 annual report.  Eaton, a sustainability leader in its industrial markets, does business in more than 150 countries.  SMART Papers and Mohawk Fine Papers will have commercial samples of the Eaton Corp. annual report available April 1.

"This paper has a soft, high-end, uncoated-like feel.  It delivers superb ink holdout and image definition, great performance on press, environmental excellence-all at an effective price point," says Mark Schwartz, Nesnadny + Schwartz, the Cleveland-based design consultancy responsible for the creation and production of the Eaton annual.  "Knightkote 50 is a fabulous performance and value choice for companies that want to underscore their commitment to sustainability while leveraging the power of print."

Schwartz said the veteran pressmen who printed the project were impressed with the matte paper's print quality and performance on high-speed presses. "It really blew them away how well it printed," he said.  "On all counts-ink holdout, registration, sheet stability, image quality-it exceeded all of our expectations and helped to deliver on our design and visual concept for this project."
