Oce Receives Prestigious Blue Angel Environmental Award

Press release from the issuing company

Boca Raton, FL—August 14, 2003—Oce, a leading provider of production-class printing solutions, today announced that the Océ VarioPrint 2070 multifunction system has received the prestigious Blue Angel certificate for environmental excellence. The certificate was awarded in recognition of Océ’s worldwide commitment to environmental protection and performance, and in particular for the environmentally sound features of the Océ VarioPrint 2070 system. The Blue Angel award is issued by the German Institute for Quality Assurance and Certification (www.blauer-engel.de) to products that meet a high standard of ecological performance. Certified products are recognized for achievements such as efficient energy consumption, use of recycled paper and recyclable materials, and low waste. Systems must meet strict regulations for emissions of dust, heat, ozone, and noise. “Océ has established a strong environmental track record over the years, and we are pleased to add to that by again receiving the esteemed Blue Angel certification,” stated Carl Joachim, vice president of marketing for Océ Printing Systems USA. “We have customers around the world who want act from an environmental perspective, and this recognition gives them quantifiable guidance for their purchasing decisions.” The 62 ppm Océ VarioPrint 2070 combines printing, copying and scanning in a single device, making it easier for customers to turn paper documents into electronic images that can be faxed, copied, posted online or distributed electronically. By enabling digital document workflow, the systems give companies a greater competitive position through faster turnaround and easier access to information. The Océ VarioPrint 2070 includes many features that meet the strict requirements of the Blue Angel certification. For example, the toner used in Océ systems overall creates less dust, and the closed toner refill system prevents spilling and avoids waste. The imaging element of the Océ VarioPrint 2070 does not contain any toxic elements, and the majority of materials used in the Océ VarioPrint 2070 can be recycled.
