US publishers gather in New York for WoodWing's World Tour

Press release from the issuing company

Zaandam, The Netherlands - WoodWing Software took to the road this month to share its vision for the future of publishing, as the 2010 WoodWing World Tour made its first stop at the Time-Life Building in New York City on March 3.

More than 120 visitors were on hand for the event, representing every facet of the North American publishing industry - magazines, newspapers, book publishing and the corporate world. They spent the day getting an up-close look at WoodWing's latest developments to support them in implementing new and efficient ways of publishing.

"We noticed that in the two or three days leading up to the event, the registrations really started to pour in," said Shawn Duffy, Managing Director of WoodWing USA. "There was quite a buzz building in the industry about our first WoodWing World Tour stop, and people really wanted to see what we had to show."

Publishing to the iPad
One of the main attractions was a demonstration of WoodWing's iPad publishing technology by Erik Schut, President of WoodWing Software. With Apple's new device set to hit the market in April, Schut demonstrated how WoodWing can help publishers to take full advantage of the iPad.

"WoodWing believes that the iPad is going to further revolutionize the way people receive their information - especially books, magazines and newspapers," Duffy said. "We have several iPad tools in development, and Erik gave a live demonstration of how it will all work."

Schut showed how publishers can use their familiar InDesign environment, together with some newly developed WoodWing add-ons, to create compelling content for the iPad. He also demonstrated how easy it is to manage the eMagazine's contents and to publish directly to the iPad using WoodWing's Content Station application.

Speeches by Mitch Klaif of Time Inc. and Gary Cosimini of Adobe Systems Inc.
Other speeches included a keynote address by Mitch Klaif, CIO at Time Inc., about the challenges faced and the creative solutions chosen by Time Inc. Gary Cosimini, Business Development manager at Adobe Systems Inc., showed Adobe's digital publishing solutions with groundbreaking new options for advertisements.

A selection of WoodWing's rapidly expanding network of partners were on hand for the afternoon program, including WoodWing partner Aysling Digital Media Solutions, giving presentations on corporate publishing, and PSG Orlando, offering sessions on book publishing. Among WoodWing's technology partners taking part in New York were celum, dataplan, Tansa, Adobe and Acquia.

With the New York stop now in the books, the WoodWing World Tour continues later this year with stops in Zürich (in June), followed by London and Sydney.
