BBH files two patent applications

Press release from the issuing company

Wheeling, Ill – BÖWE BELL + HOWELL has filed two new patent applications supporting the BBH MAILStream Inveloper, an innovative finishing system that produces dramatic improvements in throughput and efficiency while delivering significant reductions in production costs, waste and environmental impact. The system enables dynamic creation of personalized mailpieces in all standard formats and delivers high-impact messaging.

The two new patent applications are for material designs and mailing applications that provide BBH MAILStream Inveloper users with even more options for managing customer communications.

"These patent applications focus on two primary objectives: to help mailers improve customer communications, and to help them reduce cost and waste," said Mark Van Gorp, BBH vice president of business development. "Based on third-party research and usability studies, we have developed two unique innovations that support these objectives and enable mailers to deliver documents in a format and design that will help drive a desired response."

"The tests we have done clearly demonstrate the versatility of the MAILStream Inveloper, the speed at which the new technology can be implemented, and the rapid acceleration of ROI enabled through this innovative technology," added Van Gorp. "We are convinced the MAILStream Inveloper will be an industry game changer, and are continuing to develop and enhance applications and ideas based on customer needs."

The first patent application is for a new hybrid media format that provides the recipient with a high-level summary of account activity and information for accessing account details at a secure, hosted Web site. In this application, physical pages of account details are eliminated from the mailpiece, reducing postage costs, handling and waste, and providing the recipient with the ability to leverage print, electronic or both media options. The second patent application supports documents where the business reply envelope is needed for submitting payment or a response form. The patent-pending material design incorporates unique folds and perforations that reduce paper usage by as much as 40 percent while enabling the application of targeted marketing messages.
