AVT / GMI to present latest solutions for print quality at IPEX

Press release from the issuing company

Hod-Hasharon, Israel – AVT/GMI, the market leader in color control, press control and automatic inspection, will be presenting its latest solutions at IPEX 2010, May 18th – 25th, at the NEC, Birmingham, UK.

Solutions for Commercial Printing
A new generation of automated closed-loop color control and remote ink control will be demonstrated on the AVT/GMI stand. On show for the first time in the UK will be the ColorQuick/Clarios and Microcolor/Mercury solutions.

Built on the outstanding success of the GMI ColorQuick closed-loop color solution, the GMI ColorQuick/Clarios takes this proved platform a dramatic step forward, offering a new, ergonomic operating experience while delivering the ultimate in productivity and color accuracy using an in-line spectrophotometer.

The GMI Microcolor/Mercury remote ink control updates the proven accuracy of GMI’s patented digital servomotors with a graphical, fully touch-screen workstation. Flexible new product architecture enables advanced automatic ink settings and control on virtually any model of litho or letterpress machine.

For existing uses of GMI Microcolor, upgrading to Microcolor/Mercury is an easy and economic “plug and play” process because Microcolor/Mercury can work with existing GMI ink keys, fountains and GMI digital servomotors.

Gal Shamri, GMI President, stated, “The new generation ColorQuick/Clarios and Microcolor/Mercury products are being introduced as part of our long-term vision and commitment to providing our customers with process control and automation solutions that drive production excellence. These new products are a direct response to the continuing pressroom challenges that printers face. Today’s print market insists on shorter turn-around times, better color matching, and a more varied mix of products and formats. These new color control products form the foundation for optimum web press printing.”

Applications for Commercial, Labels and Packaging
AVT will present the next generation PrintVision/Apollo II 100% automatic inspection solution with advanced inspection capabilities for packaging and commercial applications, featuring higher resolutions, improved levels of automation and enhanced user interface for easier operation.

The PrintVision/Apollo II incorporates a new, powerful hardware and software infrastructure to support the highest performance levels for demanding applications. A new option features multiple and fast cameras delivering improved resolution and explicit image quality. The system is equipped with many new standard and optional features for both on-press and on-rewinder operations, such as fast and dual camera configuration, and a master verification module that enables comparison of saved master images to current jobs.

PrintVision/Jupiter - Advanced Process Control Solution for Automatic Defect Detection
The AVT PrintVision/Jupiter platform is an innovative Automatic Defect Detection Solution for web printing applications. With its Advanced Automatic Inspection software module and new ergonomic design, the PrintVision/Jupiter visually inspects all kinds of printed materials on the press, including transparent and flexible substrates used in the packaging industry, and automatically detects imperfections in real time.

ProMIS for Improved Automation
With ProMIS, the PrintVision/Apollo II for quality assurance is now able to have bi-directional communication with MIS systems in the print production environment, receiving relevant job information from production, and sending quality information to MIS. This sharing of information reduces set-up times, increases the level of automation, and eliminates the need to re-enter information, preventing data entry errors.

PrintFlow Manager
For optimal understanding of what is happening on presses and rewinders, PrintFlow Manager delivers information to everyone who needs to know. Installed on any computer, PrintFlow Manager ensures users that the data gathered from all PrintVision platforms are presented directly to print house managers and key personnel - supervisors, quality assurance managers, production managers, and others. Using its quality statistics features, managers can monitor, analyze and control the quality of the complete production process from their desktops, improving production quality and efficiency as well as communications with customers and suppliers.
